I remember clearly in Holland in 1977, sheltering under a railway bridge, whilst watching a snow storm with lightning thrown in, it looked eerie with misty flashes, but occasionally the odd muffled thunder crashes as well. All the looks of a snowstorm, but hardly any sound.

I’m watching your video here from Goring, in Worthing and it’s literally just started thundering! How weird 😊 Love it though!!

Caught this at Seaford, was set up on the beach with camera gear, caught some lovely shots of the mothership shelf as it came in, along with a couple of cg's. Was in Seaford for the big storm last September too. This was almost a carbon copy.

September's definitely seem to be getting better. Last year September was arguably the best month for widespread storms.

I think I remember this, it was awesome, I live right next to gilford and I could see the lightning lighting up the sky and the structure of the storm for about an hour before I could even hear it! It was so so loud when it got to us but the rain actually missed us so it was just purple lightning and beautiful thunder.

Nice to see lightning videos in my local town Worthing on the beach

I watched these storms approaching the south coast on LightningMaps, sadly we got very little here in Hertfordshire. One or two moderately bright flashes of lightning and one loud rumble of thunder, and that was it. 😞

Did you get the storms on the 2nd October? They looked pretty potent around Hertfordshire.
@Spudchucker92 Жыл бұрын
@@supacellstormchasing We did 😃 On and off during the day and well into the evening we get kept cells moving through. Some good lightning and a couple of huge thunderclaps. One strike even managed to knock out power temporarily to all of Hatfield where I live.

The Midlands did surprisingly well. I say surprisingly as I didn't expect storms to get that far north. Yes, fingers crossed for 2024 🙂

I watch the storms over France that day come across London around midnight filmed massive lightning strike as it passed Epic Lightning u caught as well

I know the rate of cloud to ground strikes is less in an elevated storm. But are you still more likely to he hit by lightning on the ground in an elevated storm because there are so many more flashes? A surface based storm does sound scarier but is that because it is more dangerous for lightning? The flashes tend to be less frequent though.
@supacellstormchasing Жыл бұрын
I'm not an expert on this but I think the risk of being hit by lightning on the ground is similar in surface based storms and elevated storms. In this particular storm I didn't see any CG lightning. Surface based storms are seen as more dangerous in the States because of the greater risk of tornadoes.
@matthewbrown3420 Жыл бұрын
@@supacellstormchasing Interesting. I feel safer in an elevated storm because the thunder is so soft. If you are right you would have to be very unlucky in either type of storm.
