This amp is unbelievable. I was running a fiio K7 alongside my LCD-2c's and it was pretty good. But once I plugged them into THIS. It's like the LCD's could finally stretch its legs for the first time. #1. Much better soundstage. #2. Notably better separation. Before getting the A70pro, I could tell that the LCD's were struggling with the organ at 2:42 on "Tick-Tock" by Hans Zimmer. Just slightly under resolving. With the A70 pro, my LCD's no longer give a shit. Maybe the K7 was just underpowered, or maybe it just wasn't playing nice with the THX 788 chips, idk. But it was the same deal with my SRH1540's, it nearly took them into a different performance class. I was a serious believer that amps in general have gotten good enough that going any higher couldn't make that much of a difference, but I was instantly humbled by the A70 pro. Won't need an upgrade for years to come and I no longer even have to check out the impedance or sensitivity of headphones. This amp couldn't care less, it will drive it.

@jimst3r1 I honestly adore it, at first I felt it was a little power shy but once I figured out how to direct the power to just one headphone outlet it powered my hard to drive planar magnetics beautifully. as a pre amp for 2 channel listening it's also great, it's well connected and fits my use case perfectly.

I bought the A70 Pro three months ago to replace my Drop THX AAA 789. I wanted something that could drive anything, and based on the review in ASR, it looked like this was slightly better than the A90 D at $100 less, so a true no brainer for me. I'm trying to think of an excuse to get one of the D70's, but I already have an Octo DAC 8 Pro which is eight channels and I use six those channels for home theater while using the remaining two channels for the headphone based system. This is not the most powerful headphone amp you've reviewed, and you may be surprised which was actually more powerful once you dig into the specs, the Violectric V222, which is more powerful at higher Ohms which is arguably more important, the problem with conventional amplification is that it looks impressive initially, 17 watts!!!!!! (OMG), but that is into 16 Ohms and tanks at higher Ohm loads (although still high), the Topping a70 is rated as a 17w amp, but 1.26w @ 300 Oms, and 670mW @ 600 Ohms, compared to the Violectric V222 which is 'only' rated as a 3.5w amp, but it manages to pump 1.8w @ 300 Ohms, and 900mW @ 600 Ohms!, so not all is as it seems on the surface, if you're running for example the HD600/650/6XX the Violectric would probably be the better amp to go for if you are hungry for real power.
