18-55mm Kit Lens for Astrophotography

New subscriber, love your videos. I'm looking for my first Astro camera setup and find your channel very helpful. Currently I'm only using my Pixel 7 pro. I know it's not a great option compared to a DSLR, but it's better than nothing and let's me enjoy some nights under the stars. I'll definitely be purchasing a DSLR soon. Well done, Felix. That’s the lens that started it all for me, with a capture of Comet NEOWISE four years ago! Good to get you started, and perfectly usable for star trails, but it wasn’t long before I was looking at the Samyang lenses!!

@@FelixsAstrophotography I now use a variety of Samyangs and the Sigma Art 24mm f/1.4. When it’s clear! ☁️ 🙄

I would also like to buy a new lens soon to photograph the night sky ( time-lapse and the Milky Way). Which lens would you recommend?

@@FelixsAstrophotography I think either the Samyang 24mm f/1.4 or 14mm f/2.8 are worth considering. For timelapse the 24mm is particularly good as it’s so bright at f/1.4, so the detail you can get in MW timelapse is awesome. However, Samyang can be a little intermittent on quality control, so buy from a reputable dealer if you can, although there are many used bargains too! Good luck!
