Thank you so very much for opening up your heart to us!! My momma passed away 13 years ago at age 79. Her brother, Ed,was a gunner in World War 2. He was never found. He died somewhere on Normandy beach?? My grandmother had a nervous breakdown and my momma ,pretty much, help raise the baby of the family. They’re were 10 in their family. They never had a body to bury. I know my momma and grandma always worried he might be a prisoner of war?? Wars are just terribly hard on soldiers and family. It infuriates me when people do not respect out flag and or our military!!! What a classy and beautiful lady you are indeed! God bless you and God bless our military and country. 🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️❤️🙏🙏

That was difficult for you...I had tears in my eyes as well. Lives of Men, our Father's, Brothers, Uncles, Nephews, Cousins lost their lives or returned from War without their limbs, never the same...to PROTECT OUR FREEDOM. WE WILL NEVER FORGET OUR FALLEN SOLDIER'S.

We just sat and watched and listened to your remembrances of years gone by. Thank you for sharing such a tender story with us. Many sacrifices were made by so many during that time. We can only imagine. But it is so important to hear these stories so we can appreciate people's sacrifices. I wish I could go back in time and hear the stories of the war from my grandfather and my uncle. I never thought when they were alive to ask them to tell me their stories.

I just started watching your videos. I am binge watching them. I am so glad I found your channel. I love your stories. It's really interesting to hear about how it was during WW2. My mother didn't say much about it. She was born in 1924. The only thing she mentioned was that her dad, my grandfather was in the WPA. I agree that those stories need to be told. I just can't imagine living through that. Thank you for sharing. No need to apologize for being emotional when relaying those stories to us. God bless you and keep up the good work.

I add my voice to those saying I am DEEPLY GRATEFUL you shared the story of your family-your story. As I sit at my kitchen/dining room table in tears I saw the ever present rawness of the loss of your wonderful brother. I stepped into your experience for so brief a moment and felt it. A child’s fear, the terror of the immediate but unknown threat. My Dad was born in Alabama, raised in Tennessee. I know nothing of his life there. He had scarlet fever as a child which damaged his heart. He died when he was just over 40 years old and I was only 11. There is more to share but like yourself, it’s sometime difficult to speak about emotional things. You are a treasure and I thank you again for sharing. It means more than you could imagine.

I’m a different generation, my Daddy was a Vietnam Vet, he received a bronze star and many more accommodations. No, there is no comparison but my family always drew strength from the communities where we lived. Soldiers stick together and so do their families creating a feeling of pride and loyalty. Thanks for bringing back that feeling and reminding me of how things used to be. Love your stories and your channel. ❤❤❤

I am sorry about your brother. Thank you for your story. I cried when I heard about your brother. These leaders of countries should do the fighting. And leave innocent people out of it. My grandparents never remember hearing any stories. So I was very interested in hearing your story. My mom never talked about when she was young. I remember finding her ration book. I have a younger son who is old enough to get drafted if we, you know. And I just cry at the thought nasty 3 letter W word. My husband always watches the ww2 war movies, his dad was in it. His father never talked about the things he saw. But I always wondered about stories about life here.

Pat, I have waited a while to listen to your story about WWII. I knew it was going to be a very tearful one and I cried right along with you. Thank you for sharing this story with us even though it was hard for you. I am in a military family, my husband and 5 five of his brothers were in the military. 3 in the Army, 1 in the Air Force and one in the Navy. My oldest brother was in the Army too. Even though it wasn’t during WWII, it was during the Korean War and Vietnam War. It had to be hard on your family to live through this time from 1941-1945. If you have ever heard of the Battle of Pork Chop Hill my husband’s oldest brother was wound in that battle. I love and have a special place in my heart for all Veterans and those that are serving our country today. That also includes the wives of the veterans and military, because we served right along with them. A lot of things we went through from the aftermath of them being in the war! Thanks again Pat, love and praying for you!

I agree Pat that stories of life in the U.S. during World WarTwo, told by those who experienced it is so important. I have listened to countless Holocaust survivors testimony’s recently. Often, through the years I attended talks by Jewish Holocaust survivors. Listening to their experiences deeply affected me, enpowering me to speak up against holocaust denial. This period in our history that deeply affected the whole world must be forever remembered. We must never forget the evil, loss, tragedy and bravery of all affected by this war! We must never be deceived by charismatic leaders that spew hatred, bigotry, racism, war and division ever again!

Your story here brings back a lot of recollections for me. My mama and daddy were born in 1932 and 1933 respectively; My in-laws were born in 1932 and 1934, so I heard them tell similar stories about all the sacrifices made during WWII. They are all four gone now. My father-in-law passed in 2007, my mother-in-law in 2008; then my father and mother passed in 2016 and 2017. Both my daddy and my father-in-law were Veterans, but thankfully neither one of them had to serve during wartime. My maternal grandfather served in WWI in France and he often told horrifying stories of what he went through while he was overseas. I suppose you could say he had what is now called PTSD today…he was never the same after he came home from the war…he was in and out of Veterans’ hospitals until he died in 1969. I suppose you could also say that my very existence is a miracle because he came so close to dying in France. May God be with you and comfort you when you recall such poignant memories. I am so sorry for the loss of your brother at such a young age. Sending lots of love and huge hugs to you Mrs. Pat.

My favorite story teller. No all stories need to be funny, they just need to mean something to you. I enjoyed listening to your story as a child during WWII. Mine and my husbands fathers were both in the war. Mine was in Germany, his was in the Pacific. B's )my husband) dad also dropped out of school after grade 8 and went to work to help out at home. He was probably one of the smartest men I have ever known. He was a brakeman for the railroad all his adult life. He taught himself how to play the organ and learned from his grandfather how to be a builder. Neither of our fathers would talk about the war. My father was a prisoner of war in Germany for a time. We learned about some of that through his writing short stories about it. We didn't know his rank or his job until after he passed away. I am glad that a lot of that generation have put their thoughts and memories on video so those memories can be there for all the future generations. Thank you again for sharing your heartfelt story

Granny Pat, my grandmothers were born in 1923 and 1919. My grandfathers were born in 1919 and 1927. Both of my granpops were in WWII. I still have all of my grands military telegrams from the war, war currency, and the FDR issued bibles, fuel ration stamps, and the letters my grandma saved that granpa wrote to her when they were newlyweds when the war started.❤

😢 Your brother was a beautiful soul! I am so sorry to hear he had passed so long ago! His memories definitely live on with those who knew and loved him. ❤ I loved learning about your experiences during WW2. I think stories like yours need to be told. They are authentic and self-witnessed and no one can change your words that are spoken. Prayers and 🤗 for you. I am so happy you are alive to let the World know your stories. ❤

Dear Pat, this was a wonderful story you shared with us because its history its our history it's your history I'm so honored that you decided to let us hear your beautiful sad true story. I think that all our younger generation needs to sit and listen to you and everyone that was there so they maybe can understand it better than just reading about it if they would just take the time and really listen they might understand it better they are so many that dont respect our country our flag or service men and women. The thing that is going on today being said they just don't understand it's so sad how some act today not all but some just don't have things straight in their minds. I wish they had your videos for the college classes and it have to be taken i think after hearing and seeing you the emotions they would think differently. At least i would hope it would make a difference. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your memories.

High school teachers should call in those who witnessed the wars, let them hear the real stories, the real experiences, bring it into their own homes. The young people will never see life as it was, and may be again. We don’t want history to repeat itself. My generation and my brother’s generation will soon disappear. The truth will not be known.

Yes. My Mother has shared many of her Parents stories of living in Oak Ridge and what it was like. They got there pretty early in the process and there was a shortage of places for people to live. Not much of a Hospital. My Grandmother was basically on a roll around bed in the hallway of the hospital when she sas in labor with my Mother. So many stories that we are trying to keep alive. Our family has donated a couple of things to the museum in Oak Ridge tgat my Grandfather was a big part of. I was Blessed to have been able to talk to both my Grandparents about life during the war. I also talked with my Great Grandmothers about WWII days and life in their youth. Wonderful memories. You remind me so much of them. I miss them all dearly. God Bless You Pat.

@@ronaldcoward9576 Collect those stories. They are our history. I worked with a lady whose husband was an OR scientist. He was brilliant. My dad supervised the building of thousands of houses and dormitories. Life was rough, and very scary.

You’re right, our history to tell, want be told anymore. I’ve told my children about my dad being in it. He passed at 68 when my boys were 7&8, but I try hard to keep it going. Their in their40”s and I’m happy I taught them.

I found your story so moving because we never thought that America had it tough durig the war, not like England and the rest of the UK. I was born in 1951 so I don't have any memory of the war, only what I heard my parents generation talk about it and it was pretty horrendous, but to hear them and others talk it did'nt really seem to tough the citizens of America. Your story dispelled that assumption, I know the UK did suffer like you did, most of the folk who went through the war are all gone now in this country but they were named the "Greatest Generation". The military really did earn that accolade they were amazing on both sides of the Atlantic. My mom almost married a US serviceman for some reason her dad (my grandad) didn't want her to marry because it would mean leaving her country and family and it put her off. She used to talk of the friendliness and openness of the US troops, she spoke of one serviceman sitting down to the piano they had and playing it. They loved it because some of the troops didn't seem to have the hangups our people did. Thank you for your story.

Such a story must be told because the youngsters of today do not know what this war was about or care about how this war impacted families. I look forward to more of your stories.
