I'm a Pakistani Muslim and i was once in a relationship with a Pakistani Hindu guy Subhash. We were together for no less than 7 years during which time it never once occurred to either of us or to those around us that there was anything odd about us because we prayed to different gods. We were both students and during college everyone is progressive enough to look beyond social constructs as were we and as were our friends. Bollywood too is a progressive industry and those drawn to it or those working in it do not look at life from within the paradigm of their faith. Judging their marriages by conservative standards is therefore moronic. I am much older now then I was when i was in college and a little more conservative in my thinking. And whereas I will choose not to marry a non-Muslim now, unless i fall in love with a non-Muslim, I continue to remember Subhash with great fondness. Love is above all that which is not.
