I did my first deep freeze bushcraft when I was 12 in boy scouts. We were up in the forest in the Finger lakes. It was 10 below all weekend in early January. Our scout master taught us well on surviving outside in sub zero weather with a tarp tent. We heated stones for our beds. Spent hours for wood and pine branches to make our bedding. I've been camping for 50 years since then. Learned a lot.

I always enjoy your videos..im 70 yr old and have never been in snow before. I live in the USA and it never snow in my state. But i do get a kick outta watching others do things in the snow. When i was younger i use to wanna go somewhere that got real snow but i never got the chance..i don't even own a heavy coat or boats, gloves, hat or scarf because it doesn't get that kinda cold. Our city is not equip to handle snow. Back in 1989 we got ice on the bridges and the Mayor locked down the city. No public transportation nor bridges open. But i admire you for making these videos. Stay warm and be safe.

Should have cut up and stockpiled lots of wood. Evidently no experience. Struggling to survive. What is your sleeping bag temperature? It's evident you didn't prepare for this enough. This trip will teach you.

Last December I did a 5 night trip in the Arizona high country. Camped at 7,000+ feet elevation with overnight temps that got down to 8° fahrenheit. We built a long fire against a rock bluff and that helped but honestly, good ground pads and army bags kept us toasty. Sleeping on top of snow is a trip.

@@katekobylarz3447 I watch what pops up on my algorithm instead of watching content of my Viking friend all day. Mostly I scroll to conservative channels. We have an important election coming in the US and have to decide between a leader or a babbling idiot. I watched a dugout build then he started building fences and such outside so I quit watching him. I subscribe to a lot of get out in the woods and build from scratch content, because I am 70 and can only dream about being in his shelter with a wind rain channel playing on my phone. Once I made a suggestion of building a reflector behind his fire. He has done that and I like to think he liked my idea. Did he know who knows but the Shadow?

Well, it's nice to watch you do this. But I don't freeze for anybody. May I suggest that you also bring a pot and kettle with you, gather clean snow bring it to a boil and hard boil the frozen eggs. And make hot tea to drink, this would help you to stay a bit warmer maybe. A tent that excepts a small stove so a fire could be inside with you also would be nice. Just saying. ❤

Would a Thicker or heavier weight of fabric provide Coverage in that camouflage tarp that you use? ❤if it was a denser weight of 'fabric' it might block more of the ambient moisture out (before application of roofing insulation).
