IMPORTANT Dakar have hit me with a copyright strike so ive had to delist some of the videos just in case i guess they got pissed that mine were better because of the MOTOGP one before xmas that means im really vulnerable now and the channel could be removed at any time I have set up this backup channel so please go and follow it NOW, this could all be removed at any moment now so it is critical to stay in touch via the backup channel here kzbin.info/door/CSl6i-tZJNC5DQ38vgCtvw sorry for this if i get another strike it wipes out all my work all my old videos will be removed I wont be posting anything much on the new channel unless this goes down but this is a just in case because it really could go down at any point the videos are still visible if you have a link so if you have problems message me for links so you can still watch them, if you follow the channel and this one gets taken down you will be able to find me there sorry if thats a bit garbled ive just woken to this but i guess i could have had the channel taken down already so i should be thankful ride free everyone

You kept the best till last!! The Crighton CR700 Rotary would be my choice if $$ was no obstacle. That's because sheer grunt without good "natural" handlng (without the 'need' for electronics) is no comparison to this bike, although it's never been tested against other track bikes but has incredible potential. Best value for $$ is the Hyabusa since it's so easily tuneable and lots of good used ones available. But the track filters out all of them imo. A local guy here in Ottawa, Canada is more into drag racing and consistently has over 450 RWHP using a Garret turbocharger and there have been several examples of around 600 RWHP. So power is not the winning factor. It's the combination of handling and rideability that sets any of these bikes apart - as well as the sound, the feeling and sheer riding experience.

I have a V-Max, i'm also 52 lol, it's a 95 full power job, standard except for drilled out exhausts as they are far too quiet standard, it's very comfortable and easy to ride but when it hit's 6K all hell breaks loose, huge surge and the tach flashes round, really is something else, interestingly the V-Max will run the same 1/4 mile time as the Gen 1 Busa (i also have one of those), purely down to low down torque and shorter gearing, after that though the Busa would destroy the Max which runs out of steam at 130 (if you have the ballls to do 130, on one i certainly don't), i had the Busa at 140 and it felt like it was just getting into it's stride.

I owned the 1999 model - but in black and silver (not just the bronze). I did 200 mph on the clock (maybe it was really less - but it touched the 200 so that’s good enough for me. There were several versions in 98/99 and only the British spec was the fastest (there was a US, EU and Japanese 99 version) Anyway - loved that bike - smooth and lovely sport tourer. It replaced my Yamaha VMax that I shipped from Hong Kong to U.K. and found it didn’t go around U.K. roundabouts so a brand new 99 Hayabusa was bought (in 98 actually)

The principle reason why US prices are completely out of whack is because US prices dmay not include local taxes or local dealer mark up. UK/European prices include everything bar the PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection), in the US, those extras can be crippling. Of course, the KTM has now added another 60cc or so.

I think my lottery bike would be the KTM SD1390R (not the EVO)' I'm too old for any of those racing crouches, and the hassle of dealing with those exclusive names would just fill me with dread, especially as there aren't the dealers around here. I know that's a boring reply, but when you get get close to/into your 60s, life's just too short to have to spend much of it dealing with trailering a bike half way across the country, or even a continent. I would have an enduro bike as well, just for the sh1ts and giggles.

The only place I'm interested in vacationing outside of the USA would be the ISLE OF MAN!! If I won a big lottery, which I won't because I don't play it either, I would buy that rotary bike, and the insane V8 bike with the 2 R1 motors because they sound amazing. According to my local coppers, they think my CBR900RRn is dangerous, I don't think so as I have been riding it for over 10 years (She's 30 now) I think a Honda C50 is more dangerous as you just can't accelerate out of trouble... and knowing that copper, any motorcycle is dangerous if it his the one trying to ride it.. as for the rest of us, well I guess we have more intelligence. Lets face it as the saying goes, Police intelligence is an oxy-moron, as if they had any intelligence, they would have been solicitors

Always exceptions from any rules, had some great times racing off duty coppers from Woodley roundabout when they are out on their own bikes. On on his GPX I had a hard time following down the white lines in rush hour from Slough to Reading and I even managed to blow some pistons on my 750FourK full Yoshi 812cc with the lumpy cams and race can. I only know he was a copper as he pulled me over 2 days later on a 650 Nighthawk I'd borrowed from a friend while we tried to get the Yoshi fixed. I hit 60 this year and still out there riding when I can

Great presentation. I bought a 1979 Kawasaki Z1R the year it came out. At the time it qas the first production bike with a sub 12 sec quarter mile. With minor mods (exhaust / carb/ gusseted frame) it was great ride. 45 years and many bikes later I've come back full circle and over the 2023 Canadian winter rebuilt a 1978 Ducati 500 S Desmo that had only 1600 km on it. even if there was a super material that is stronger than diamond, yet light as a feather... we'd have an engine and frame as powerful as an aircraft carrier yet lighter than a foam cup... it would be unrideable without some way to stop and rubber wheels that defy physics. In that vein, I think theyve exhausted the limits of whats possible with two wheels speed and performance. That being said, the bikes that do exist make any rider blush. Ive only ever riden motorscooters. Theres alot of fun to be had on a simple 169cc EFI scooter that only weighs 220lbs, yet can get my 240lb lardass up to 60mph.

Yeah the KTM Superdukes are cheap over here, and at least from what I've seen they sit on dealer lots. In my personal opinion that is because the seat is hard as a rock and they are all orange. If Husqvarna or CFMoto releases the same package in something styled half decently it will be much more desirable in the US I believe.

probably at least part of the reason, as i think it was lack of sales that drove the Vmax prices here down too. it just seems mad that you can buy a 1290 cheaper there after shipping and taxes than they can in Austria, and not a 1290, but there is some CF Moto news coming, im just finishing the video, for once it feels like a manufacturer is listening, makes a change

In my current line up as well as a fair few old 80’s GSXR’s I have two 1999 Hayabusa’s, the one thing that people often neglect to mention is apart from the large power and speed aspect is that the bike has no electronic riders aids, no abs, no traction control, no rider modes and frankly shocking brakes. I know several younger riders who are quick but treat my Busa’s with respect as they know that they can and will bite back. I also have a gen 2 Superduke 1290R and it’s a pussy cat in comparison.

I spent years doing trackdays but im not a racer. also a 7spannerman who had the privelidge of knowing Terry Beckitt among others, so tuning became 2nd nature, especially when flow dynamics became part of my job 🙂 you could say, i've been around the block a few times lol. hope that explains things a bit 🙂 dont miss the Mason Klein interview, tomorrow at 6pm GMT !!!!!

The most perfect bike I've ridden was my 2006 GSXR 1000 with was lightened to 414lbs ride off wet, 167.8 whp, upgraded suspension brakes and geared. At the top of third gear at 167mph it still wanted to wheelie. Rider aides? Sticky tires and a sensible right hand.

I only ever had a baby bike-Kawasaki AE80 but I loved it. Best six months of my life. That’s when I got messed up. Not on the bike although it could so easily have been.
