Genuinely laughed out loud when that fish jumped and got laid up on the stump. I'm sure you contemplated jumping in for a split second. Thanks for the stellar content in between outings Kambo!

Lol, I couldn’t believe it. The whole catch was so wild. The size, the jump/escape, landing on the stump, freeing itself, and knocking my other rod into the water. SMH. Insane. Thanks W!

Wow, just wow! Do you ever hear of anyone targeting snakeheads with a fly rod? And what a sweet kayak rig. I'm going to look through your other videos- hopefully you've got some content about it. Great channel man!
@KambotroutFishing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks much 🙏👊 I’ve targeted them on flies on occasion, but the short answer yes definitely “yes”. One of the most Ardent snakehead fly fishermen out there is Fred Dewees. You can find him at “Fred_Dew_Fly_Fishing” on IG.

@@KambotroutFishing Thank you! I'm definitely going to check him out. I've been watching several of your other videos now and figuring out how to get started in kayak fishing. I work about five minutes from Mattawoman Creek and don't live too far from Nanjemoy. Man you make this look fun!

Wow! Congratulations! Well deserved! Now that you've once again proven you're the master, you get a few questions to help out a much less successful snake angler: When you're figuring out a pattern on a day with no strikes, do you crawl along changing lures etc., hitting every spot that looks like a snake lair along the way, or move fast hoping to find happier hunting ground? What do you think is more key to your success: knowing when and where to fish, or your technique when you get there? Thanks!
@KambotroutFishing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jesse 🙏 Finding the pattern for snakeheads depends on the time of year. This time of year, I prefer to fish early mornings. I’ll start by fishing the banks parallel with buzzbaits or something similar, and point casting to cuts and pockets with topwater frogs and mice. If that isn’t working after about 30-45 min, I’ll start replacing the buzzbait with chatterbaits or swimbaits/swimfrogs. If that fails, I’ll start trying to spook the fish just to locate them. If I can’t spook them along the shore, I’ll begin fan casting to channel edges and channels with swim frogs and swimbaits. It’s difficult to choose between the area and techniques, but I lean towards areas because even if you have great technique, if you’re in the wrong place, it won’t do you much good.
