Got to see Toto live twice, last time was a few years ago on their 40 Trips Around The Sun Tour. I had front row seats right in front of Luke (literally 10 ft away) and his twin Bogners. Easily the best concert of my life and I've seen a lot in my 58 years! Got to visit with him and the rest of the band pre-show and got his book with an autograph along with a photo of the band with me and my wife. Luke is definitely one of the "guitar gods" and watching all of his virtuosity from a few feet away will make you fully aware of that. With all that he is humble, easy going and will crack you up with a joke all the time!

Totally agree with Lukather says about "Rosanna" being the song that defines the Toto band. Personally, I think "Rosanna" is the one of best pop songs recorded in this day and age; it was recorded in 1982 (36 years ago). Instrumentation, songwriting, performance and the serious jam at the end; its the most complete pop song to date...

Dean Col Jeff Porcaro’s drum riff in “Rosanna” is iconic. Musicians revere it to this day. Give a listen to Rick Beato’s “What Makes This Song Great” breakdown of “Rosanna” on KZbin. If you haven’t seen it you’ll love it.

Kingdom of Desire is in fact one of the most intense Rock album ever released. Hendrix was THE artist for him, in my childhood it was Steve Lukather. I turned just 5 when I first listened to Toto’s first record Hydra. And sure.. all the music he made is already zenith (far more than top) in history of all time music and will be even more as time passes by... He’s a kind of Mozart in Rock Music, a real genius. Long life to Luke as an artist and as a person he is, talking in this interview so gently and with such a sense of humor having in front of him a “Millenial”. Unfortunately I never had the luck to meet him personally. Thank you for your music, and God bless Jeff and Mike. Thanks for this cool interview young men, well done!
