A good tip, label your cords as soon as you get them with the device. This way you always know what they go to and if you get rid of that device you can either donate the cored along with the device or throw it out and you don't have a bunch of random cords hanging around.

We have a rule in our house. For every new item brought into the house, two leave. It’s worked brilliantly. How many shoes, shirts and dresses does one really need? Also, if you haven’t worn it or used it within a year, it’s gone. We label our cables as soon as we get the item! Less confusing. *** OMGosh, I just got done throwing out all those crazy makeup samples and things I’ve not used!

These are so simple and very common sense. My parents are hoarders and I don't know how I should keep organized. You have been helping me tremendously. I live on my own now and I find myself with tons of things sometimes and I know it's because I am still learning how and when to let go of stuff. Whenever I want to help my parents clean, things get so emotional and heavy at their home. I have just learned to let them be, however it's not healthy. So thank you! I feel so happy I get to have a clutter free environment.

I write notes on a million post its and scraps of paper, only to lose them, so after I write one, I take a picture of it, then I throw the paper away. I put them in a folder on my phone, but you don't even have to do that, just use your phone's search. It's helped my adhd immensely.

I organized my electronic drawer, and I wrote the device name on masking tape and taped to it every cord. For everything in there that I wasn’t sure about, I Googled any identifiers on the item or cord. Once I figured out what items with with what, I decided if I needed any of it. If I did, I stored in it a labeled ziplock bag.

As a guy who worked in the office pre-pandemic (picture Office Space-the movie) , 1/2 of my closet is full of long sleeve button down shirts (12 shirts) and 6-7 pairs of Khakis/pants that I have not worn in almost 2yrs now! It's fairly clear now I will be working remote indefinitely. I'm going to start by getting rid of half, keeping the ones I'd most likely wear IF I go back. Also- If you run on the platform "one cord for everything" I will vote for you:)

We'll call them the 20 20s. When the weather changes to warm I bag all my family's clean dry winter wear and store it under the bed that has risers. (Bed risers are great for adding storage space!) When the weather turns cold, bag the summer stuff, pull out the winter stuff and run through the dryer to freshen. Then hang in closet/put away, and bag summer clothes for under the bed. That way I go through my stuff twice a year: some always goes to charity for each rotation and closets stay seasonally relevant and uncluttered. Small house, too.

I store my winter clothes in a suitcase. I dont put it under the bed though. I wish i could but it makes it hard to clean...i have tile floors in my house, no carpet. I just put the suitcase in my closet.
@michaelsnider2484
@michaelsnider2484 Жыл бұрын
@@seedsoflove7684 I think your method is very practical. On the beds I have risers on, I also made dust ruffles (not actually ruffled, tho!) that hang to about 1/2 above the floor and the area under the bed does not get dusty. That might help your situation if you would like to try under the bed storage for items.

On toiletries, I disagree that you should toss the products based on the symbol on the back. If the product hasn’t changed smell or texture, it is still good. This is a legality, not a necessity. Still good to get rid of anything gross or truly unused. Sometimes it’s better to go on a controlled budget for those areas and use up what you have. One to add are unused contacts from old prescriptions and old glasses. Donate all of that! Bless others. Every single other area I totally agree. Thanks for the December chore chart. 😁

It’s true the dates are FDA “suggestions” (and also to keep you buying) .. but eye products especially should be tossed after 90days from opening (I push eye shadows and creams farther but mascara gets weird so it’s best to just replace it)

Charging Cords, I put the extra 1 or 2 in my travel bag. That way I don't have to take my cords on vacation, and take the chances of loosing/leaving them. The extra blocks go in there too. When you get ready to travel, just make sure they are still the right ones. I have a 3 port block for beside the bed, then 1 extra, just in case.

If there is a "little library" in your neighborhood, then contribute your books. Some will accept movies. Also for any expired meds or "left over" meds you can take it to a store or medical facility that has a medicine drop-off box.. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) sponsors National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in communities nationwide. Also check with your pharmacist.

Me too! I know...we're anal retentive. But I'll tell you what. When I have to (or choose to) move the stereo equipment, everyone's amazed that I can put everything back where it belongs - every cord in the right slot on the first try! Why? Because I labeled them!

I have unfollowed some on Facebook which doesn't unfriend but I don't see their posts any longer. The other thing is email subscriptions to retailers I signed up to get a promo code. In preparation for financial success, unsubscribe to retailers you don't shop at or maybe even some you do if you can't resist the "haven't seen you in awhile, Kallie, here's a code for 20% off.". Oh the freezer.......had a summer storm that knocked out power for 3.5 days. Easy way to clean the freezer/fridge as nothing survived (except a pkg of steaks that were recently purchased and still rock solid. Everything else.......out.

I've been on a big decluttering binge the past few months and I feel fortunate to say that I've addressed most of these (Freecycle is my friend!). But yeah, there are a few areas you reminded me need to be addressed.

Could you possibly do a video on where to donate things or just trash? Maybe a yardsale? What about expired medicines? Trash or flush? I think a video on where to purge items would be beneficial. Thank you! Love your videos! 🤗

Before watching this video I had already started on these areas lol. I tackled the medicine, the junk drawer, the fridge, my clothes, did the paper earlier today. Feels good to purge.

Yearly deep clean of entire car. Refill any staples.. jumper cables, steering wheel cover or spare tire & glove box. First aid: ice packs, bandages, ointments & expired meds & creams. Spices: clean, organize & splurge on a nice olive oil, grinder or cheese grater. Purse: update med cards, emergency information, get rid of old business cards & receipts. 😁

I know it's about getting rid of stuff, but most medications are still good for years past their expiry date, according to the Harvard University website, with very few exceptions (like tetracyclines antibiotics, which should be discarded as soon as they expire, and things that can become contaminated like eye drops). Getting rid of every medication that's expired or about to be, is wasting money, unless you never use it.
