180 Gallon Reef Aquarium - Tank Crashing

Ahoy shipmates, it’s been a busy couple weeks and Lady Luck has ran out for me. The tank is crashing and I have lost some corals. I discovered the problem but I maybe too late. Time will tell, but climb aboard and discover what has went wrong.

Don’t be so hard on yourself , you’ve been busy & had a lot on, hopefully now things are slowly calming down & the mrs is happy with the new kitchen you’ll have a couple extra hours on your hands for the tank & to get back into a rhythm if testing , in a positive this video was very informative & I’m sure helpful to others & good problem solving . Chin up JD, all the best & hopefully it’ll bounce back over the next month or so.

Cheers fella, yeah that’s true. The tank has been the bottom of my priorities for a couple weeks. However kitchen is done and I have some time to myself once again. Gonna focus on getting the tank back to its former glory. Cheers Daz

There's never a full day in this hobby, you can guarantee something will go wrong at some point and cost you, glad you fixed it though, your tank is looking amazing.

That’s very true, yeah I’m glad i caught it today. I knew the risks with putting all my dosing eggs in one basket. Definitely pays to have more than one type of dosing going on. Otherwise like me, the 💩can hit the fan. Fingers crossed I don’t lose anything else. But we shall see how it goes in the coming days and weeks. Going forward I will be paying more attention to the water quality and seeing if I can get this tank to look even better. Cheers JD🏴‍☠️

Hi JD, whatever you do, just don't try to raise the Alk too fast. Let it go slowly back up. Don't add kalkwasser, or don't add too much. Go slowly up with the alk to avoid a bigger crash. Best of luck! 🤞

Hi fella, yeah I’ve turned the ph controller up to 6.5 instead of the 6.3 it was at. Planning to add kalk again once the Kh is back to normal in a few weeks and stable. Wish I noticed it earlier but better late than never I guess. Cheers JD🏴‍☠️

😁 Thanks foxi, yeah glad I figured it out before I lost everything. Certainly gave me the kick up the ass I needed. I’ll definitely get one bubble tip anemone. Just coz it’s more than likely to split constantly knowing my luck 😂 Yeah clowns do host elegance corals. Pretty much host anything really.
