I thought after 48 years of riding I knew what I was doing.I have been practicing this maneuver every night after work with my new Africa Twin.Its not as easy as you make it look but I am getting a lot better. It has become fun and challenging. Thank You.I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks LOL.Thanks for posting.

I am learning this and i figured out its way easier to stay in vertical control of the bike by pushing your body weight on the brake side foot peg, if you you put your body weight on the pivoting leg there is a bigger chance the bike will slide away from you.. No one mentions this in these how to videos. Hope it helps, keep practising.

My "end of the road u turn" starts by running the front wheel up a little side bank and let gravity and steering back you up like a K turn in driver education. Sometimes it takes running the front up a side bank a couple times but gravity does the reversing for you. I've done it while two up, its easy, slow and not dramatic.

I saw something pretty cool. There’s a new Chinese bike company called COVE they made a 450 Paris Dakar type bike and it has ABS, but it automatically disables the ABS below 10 miles an hour. It seems like everybody complains about the DCT or the traction control or the ABS in dirt come up if they just allowed you to slide it spinning the wheel below one or 2 miles, an hour, or lock up the brakes below 10 miles an hour you still have some of the functionality of locking up or sliding the wheel in dirt without having to worry about it.

Agree on everything besides trying to do this technique when going downhil... that's VERY bad idea, and here's why: if all goes well, then it's all good, but if after slide-brake your bike will tip toward downhill, you will be short on leg, and there is no saving from that, and the fall will be very hard, and you will have to rotate bike on ground to be able to pick it up.

Make sure you know that ABS is not going to sabotage your plan! I just installed an abs "dongle" on my new 690 s now the default starting the bike is is front abs ONLY....so cool FINALLY can brake slide on this bad boy!! Before this dongle it was always abs full on (default) i never remembered to hassle turning it off it just kept wanting to be full abs....really worthwhile $110 free ship 2 days! (btw that deal was for husky 701 dongle which of course is the same dongle for my new 690 even if they did not say so!)

@chrisjokinen217 6 жыл бұрын
I find with the Tiger's, it's easier to leave the traction and ABS set to off-road. It still allows you to lock the rear wheel but the traction let's the wheel slide just the right amount so you can't over do it.
