We shouldn’t blame the cameramen for which shots are chosen. There are many cameras filming all over the venue and they get multiple angles and views. The director chooses which ones will be aired. He is probably in a room with all the feeds of the performances with script already decided. One explanation for the audience shots was the fascination Billboard has for how BTS has gotten so popular in the US - the ARMY. So they must have decided to show the home audience the power of the fandom. That power will tell Americans why they should be interested in a KPoP group as the majority will have never heard of them. So even though the fans were bummed out by the stupid shots, BTS probably gained from the audience views.
