Well it did stay in focus, sort of. Only I'd preferred if it had focused on the lock instead of his thumb.

Being a Lockwood I pretty much expected the classic steel spools in the bible. The way it was picking with slight counter rotation on each pin settled it for me. All it needed then was Bosnian Bill to gut it for final confirmation. Thanks Bill and Legal Lock Picker.

No counterspring on the lock core which is usually the case on these style locks means he hardly needed to apply any tension at all to turn it open he literally could have opened it from that point with his thumbnail (the nail on his thumb)
@aussiecue4 жыл бұрын
I was a Lockwood Locksmith, Easiest lock to pick and they are the same from one lock to another regarding sizes. I actually go hard tension on and off and medium hooks to click those shallow spools. Many say light tension but I can muscle them open faster.

Another shiny Lockwood👍🇦🇺 Same deal as the last one, it's missing the tapered key pins. Same core is found throughout the Lockwood removable core range of padlocks. They are designed to be gutted like you did and not through the top cap.

These style locks dont tend to have any counter spring so after picking they are free turning no need to worry you could easily use a finger nail to turn the core
@bradw05354 жыл бұрын
@@urbansnipe right, I have a few locks with the "dead core" that don't have spring tension on, like this one. It was just the initial panic that got me, imagining the core had spring tension 🙂

I don't understand shutter locks in general ... If someone tries to cut the shackle it will get indented/deformed. Won't this prevent the shackle from retracting, which will lock the owner out?

Seems good quality. Is Lockwood becoming a cheaper alternative for general corporate use? Similar quality to Abloy, MulTLock and ILCO. The anti-corrosion finish is a bit rough tho. But I guess it doesn't have to look pretty.

I spent some time puzzling over why US folk call the key profile the "bidding" Was there a parallel with auctions or betting?? ....... then one day I saw it written "bitting" and I realized ...... like battery ...... which you guys pronounce "baddery" ....... for us english the two Ts are pronounced as a T ...... as in teeth. Good vids

Much like the UK people from different places in the US pronounce things differently. Using your example of "battery", I personally hit the hard T sound but have also heard it said as "baddery" and even "battry".
@KeylessEntry4 жыл бұрын
The key profile is the shape of the key, bitting are the cuts on the key.
@Muzer04 жыл бұрын
It's not actually a d, it's pronounced very similarly to or the same as a flapped r (eg the r in Irish English "three"), but to British English ears unused to the phenomenon we tend to hear it as a d because it's voiced like a d and is made in a similar way. But American English isn't the only dialect to use odd pronunciations of the letter "t"; many British English dialects, at least during informal speech, would pronounce "bitting" as "bi'ing" where the ' here represents a glottal stop (the consonant pronounced right at the back of the throat in the middle of "uh-oh" and sometimes appearing between words ending and starting in the same vowel, which you probably don't even think of as a consonant). As far as I'm aware this isn't done in any American English dialect. Isn't language fun?
