Yes as I've said in other comments, it can be delicate for very fine parts. I've used it on huge complex moulds, it's just when you have long thin parts like that dragon's tail. I found the Let's Resin PU ok on the tree of life. I haven't tried the black one on the tree yet though, but it does seem they vary

Lol I soon learned to get more organised with it. I's wonderful stuff. The good thing about the white is you can actually see what it's doing - the black you can't so I worry more about feeling the cup for heat. You do get a warning - the slightest warm feeling to the cup - pour quickly. Preferably pour before that though. Stir quickly and pour :)

Always love 💕 watching your videos. I’m interested in PU but nervous 😅with the timing… still a noob and I work like a headless chicken. You don’t want to even see my workspace cause it would give you nightmares 😂. Do have a question… is PU as hard as resin? (In resistance)
@miniscenesgb
@miniscenesgb 11 ай бұрын
yes it's tough. though for very fin things - like this dragon's tail, epoxy edges it because it has a tiny bit of give to it where as PU will snap . it's lighter than Epoxy too which is handy if you're posting stuff. I have to say though, because I've found these moulds to be slightly off level - if I'd levelled better, that til would have been slightly thicker. For small pieces like Jewellery it's very tough, and for chunky pieces too - but long and very thin like that tail is the only time I've had it break. It's pretty awesome to use. Love the new Let's Resin one. Such fun to watch cure

There is no clear resin in these makes in this video, I haven't found clear PU resin yet though I am told it exists - and I'd then have to find a black pigment that works with PU too. If you mix black into the white it cures grey. Hence why I use the Polycraft PU for black as it's readily available.

Have you tried thread loc on the screws or PU tape as a semi permanent solution to stop them moving on their own as if they work it would be a cheaper option than buying a new leveling Board

Yep. Seems the wood was being affected by the heat of the bigger moulds when resin cures, and my heat mat. No more wooden levelling tables for me ;) It's gone straight in the bin lol

Just do you know Lets Resin does have black PU in the US. Your piece looks nice.

They do? That’s interesting. Others in the US said they can’t get PU at all, how strange. I’ll bug them to make it available in the uk then too as that’s awesome news.thanks

Apparently they have black Epoxy, not PU :( Pity as black epoxy is so easy to mix but black PU is not

Quick, easy, and thrifty alternative to buying a new table: mark the correct height for the leveling screws with a marker, buy four nuts that fit the leveling screws, remove each leveling screw one by one and thread on two nuts each. The top nut will be adjusted up to the marker line and the bottom nut will be adjusted to snug up against it. The top nut will set the correct level, and the bottom nut will prevent the top nut from moving. It should cost about 10-20 cents per nut. If there's only room for one nut before reinstalling, get a bottle of Loctite Blue 242 and put a drop on the screw thread at the marker line before adjusting. Note: Loctite Blue 242 is in a red bottle, and Loctite Red 271 is in a blue bottle. Blue is temporary in case you need to readjust, Red is permanent-ish. a 6ml tube should cost you about $8. Hope that made sense and helps.

Great tip. However in my case it eventually turned out the actual wood had warped a little, probably from the heat of constant use of a heat mat and large resin makes curing too. Resin gets very hot. This new glass one should be perfect but I’ll bear in mind your tips if I have any issues

Is it possible to colour the resin when you are mixing it?

Yes you can! Though as the white is white you can't get black. you just et grey. If you look in some of my other videos I did a whole video on colouring PU Resin

I love the white with chameleon powders/flakes! Bless you I feel awful that you have to justify what you say or think, like the polyurethane coming in different colours from different companies before someone jumps in with their ten pence worth! Much love to you and love your resin makes!😊
