Human errors have been a constant problem for our electric fencing. That being, people keep forgetting to turn the energizer back on, once they are done caring for our livestock. Our search for a solution led us to Amazon, where found this alerting system, that will flash a BRIGHT RED light if your fence is off, or grounded out and in a low voltage state. It has saved us many many time so far! This problem isn't just specific to us on our Homestead - many homesteaders have the same problem (how many times has Justin Rhodes had to chase animals around, because someone forgot to turn the fence back on?) - we're hoping this video will help someone.
Speedrite Fence Alert: amzn.to/2KYFeBb
Manufacturer Info:
+ Can be used on any type of electric fence including steel or aluminum wire and on portable poly products
+ Works with all energizers, it is not intended to flash when the fence is operating properly
+ No ground wires or external powers sources required
+ Typical battery life is 5 years on standby or up to 2 weeks of continuous flashing
+ Two preset voltage triggers can be selected

Nifty! Its not too often the fence is forgotten here, mostly because everyone hates chasing loose animals! However, I love that it would alert if the voltage is low or grounded out.

Imagine if the power company turned the power off each time they done work on the lines ? Shock therapy is good for a person. Afterwards its relaxing ! Learn to work with the fence when its hot......or just simply take hold of it and work on it. Can use a sheet of styro-foam to stand on to work on it. My wife always took care of the calves in the creek bottom. After putting the calves out.......she came home and complained the calves were out. This went on for a week. I asked her if she checked the fence. She said its up and ok. I had no idea she was unplugging the fencer before she went to check and feed the calves. She always forgot to turn it back on. Bottom line. I wired it direct. No more unplugging it. Problem solved !

Suggest that you also put up some signs next to the gates... telling whoever is last, to turn the power back on. Or.. fire them. lol

Have one. Works well. I would also buy an upgrade that sends an alert to our phones. Techie but handy when property is out of sight. Trail cam has alerts already. ❤️

Oh, it’s easy! All you have to do is {redacted due to criminal safety} and that should take care of any unwanted guests that may decide to pick your tomatoes.

Hard to even do electric fences in super dry soil, you'll have ground issues.

Thats awesome. Thank god you don't have sand for soil. Where we are it is 95% sand. An electric fence will not work in sand. Unless it is moist. In the summer it dries out and you get no ground. So no electric fence. It has been a constant battle. We have one to keep things out here. I have 3 eight foot grounding rods and still can't get a ground. Ugh. That would be a cool little gadget to have.

I am not a 'fan' of too many electronic gadgets. I work in the compressor branch, and in the '90 I never had problems with service and optimizing screw compressors, a pressure switch, a temperature switch and delta P. controler and every 6 months 'basic service' and OK for +10 years. "Now with the electronics and the different types of controllers and sensors I waste more time to set up the service and other barrometers than the 'actual maintenance + check this and preventively replace that (NOT NECESSARY COST ! ) ' on the compressor, people on the office desk are more concerned with checking the hourly readings of a machine on the PC, instead of doing their job ! "Planing the jobs. " . Machine builders in 2000 do not earn much on sales, so they have to get their profit from the service with "brand service kits". (Knowing that there are only a few manufacturers of air, oil filters such as "MAN" (In the EU) / same with car service. Only oil, oilfilter, check and every 100.000Km distribution belt. And preventively a drop of oil or greass, and a good visual inspection of parts, suspension of pipes and connections is sufficient ! JN

Yes, original homestead and home was established in 1876. Well, the original homestead had 40+ acres and we just have 7 of that, but proud to own a piece of American history! The street we live on was actually named after the settling family ❤️🌱
