Mine boggling that late 1800s technology was able to build such a extravagant piece of work without electricity, i.e., power tools, or lightbulbs! BEAUTIFUL!

Thanks for posting this from everyone here at Smithville. Always nice to see one of our bikes in action. And what an impressive dismount! Historic Smithville Village here in Burlington County NJ is open 365 days a year.

I've been watching your train videos and this is just fantastic. I love both the treadle system, and how you get off! I never thought of that, though I always wondered how the dismounting procedure was. Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for this?

Probably my favorite vintage bike design, it’s genius! Any idea on how to obtain one? I feel like they’re a rarity for the treadle system alone. If I had the knowledge I’d build one myself.

Oh they are out there ...roughly 7200 were made 1881-1894...great fun to ride ..where are you located ?

@@vintage-model-trains Texas, DFW area to be specific. I’d be willing to go on a road trip to the northeast to find one though.

Somehow looks more dangerous than a penny farthing

After you get comfortable up there it is quite safe at least from headers

A farthing penny.😂 It looks like it's even higher on the point of balance than a penny farthing.

Yes you're slightly higher as you're above the highest point of the wheel
