Excellent training video. Checking for trailer registration is one of the most lacking pre-trips in our profession. You did a complete and outstanding job John, outstanding.

I always learn so much from your videos man. My trainers never told me to let the trailer settle when disconnecting, never showed me when decoupling to pull forward to pull the pin out then deflate the bags. Never showed me to tap the glad hands to prevent leaks which 75% of them did loose air overnight. Thank you so much for the videos man I've been watching for a few years now your fantastic

Great video. Not being a trucker, its nice to see how you prepare the truck and trailer. Here in UK the driver has a licence plate which he keeps with him so when he drops a trailer the licence plate he puts on the trailer matches the one on the truck. Also the trailer wheels are fixed.

great reversing your videos are good i drive articulated trucks for supermarket in England we some times use 52 foot trailers they are tri axle the back axle steers has wide swing we can be a nightmare
@MrSkott165 жыл бұрын
You should have moved the tandems all the way forward for better maneuverability, then slide them all the way back after you are in the spot. :) I drive the same truck and it doesn't turn on a dime. Just a suggestion. Keep it trucking! Great job!

Here in the UK we use 3 axle trailers with what we call super single tyres. We also operate at 44 metric tonnes or 96800lbs. This is for general everyday haulage. Also noticed that when connecting to the trailer you didn't have a securing 'dog clip' to prevent the locking arm on the 5th wheel popping out.
@24juan688 жыл бұрын
what is a dog clip?
@johnlambert57328 жыл бұрын
Hi there. When you back onto a trailer and the hear the 'click' that is a steel arm being released that locks the jaws onto the king pin. On this arm is a handle that you have to manually pull out in order to allow the jaws to unlock and drop the trailer off. A dog clip or you could call it a snap lock is used to prevent this arm from accidentallly popping out and risk the chance of the jaws opening and the trailer being dropped off inadvertently. It's a safety device. Many dog leads have this type of clip to attach to the collar, hence the name dog clip. Hope you understand what I mean.

Maxxi I just subscribed to your channel today, after following you for a while. I admire your Christian values. I really enjoyed your wide angle view of your cockpit while on the road the other day., which allowed me to observe the operation of the automatic transmission. it makes me wish I could drive one. I own a class A motor home with a 330 Cat diesel & an Allison 6 speed trans & I can't imagine how much fun it would be to drive a big ol' Kenworth or Pete across a mountain pass in the Rocky mountains! I figured out how to engine brake down Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado with that Allison in 2nd gear, without burning the foot brakes up, so I think I can speak with authority on the subect... Unfortunately, I'm too old to be doing it! Ha ha...

since all the trucks i drove never had a suspension gauge i had to figure out how much weight was per hole. some trailers had holes spaced 1 inch apart, so you had to move it back and forth, a lot of holes, and some trailers had 3 inches between holes, those were the best, except Calif with their mandatory bridge law, you had a lot of room to move the trailer tandems. if you're driving in snow, you want weight on your drives.

Ps. Mr. Jhon I've been moving freight close to 36 years and I will never figure out why in the world every single forklift driver always loads the nose heavy and plum scared to load over the trailer tires. 34000 is all you have to work with on ground pressure but no one remembers you can load the trailer tires heavier than the nose cause the drives has two heavy differentials and a fifth wheel plus a refrigeration unit that takes away from the load weight where there is absolutely nothing on the rear axle. Now why in the world is that so hard for loaders to figure out? Just saying. Almost always as with the load here you just picked up look how much floor room you have by the back doors where they could have spread the pilot's out just a bit for even load distribution. That's exactly what causes jackknifes is the nose is heavier than the rear.
@karlsantos81269 жыл бұрын
I think it would be easier if you had the tendems forward so the trailer can turn better ??? maybe Im wrong
@25mfd6 жыл бұрын
You aren't wrong. But the MAIN reason for sliding the tandems is mostly about adjusting the weight to be in compliance with the bridge/weight laws set by the miserable feds.
@anishnewton1006 жыл бұрын
I think he meant it would be easier to back up with the tandems forward not drive on the roads and I agree.
@gavensingh91175 жыл бұрын
If the tandems were forward, the back of the trailer would have swung out and hit the other trailer. Little guy show has a vid about it

1 not all trucks run the same tire size as your truck 2 not all trucks have the same ride height as set on the truck you drive 3 do you keep extra glad hands on your truck because hitting them with a hammer will break them they are made of cast aluminum 4 why would you not but a load lock on the kegs that are just laying on top of a pallet 5 did you go back to see if the tandem slide pins was locked after you slid the tandems forward
@caseyblackburn63656 жыл бұрын
3) I'm sure he does 4) they're probably secured to the pallet somehow 5)he legit answers question about them so yea he even pointed at them, you can also tell when your driving and your axles are locked in and not moving freely

Johnny have you ever had a runaway engine
@24juan687 жыл бұрын
I don't know what that is?
@slimshady80247 жыл бұрын
it 's where the engine runs away uncontrollably on an alternate fuel source ie ( turbo seal leaking oil into air stream ) and can' be shut off . if you ever run into this scenario a CO 2 fire extinguisher into the intake will take away the oxygen and stop combustion and stop the engine
