Is it designed this way to prevent the arms from jamming? I know traditional typewriters can have the issue despite the qwerty layout. At least mine does.

I’m not sure, but from my typing experience, jamming was hardly an issue on this Williams.

I’ve been collecting since 2016. There is plenty of information on some of the earliest typewriters in history. But new information is found almost all the time.

I liked the vid but this typewriter is a disappointment. with the double thing and music you chose I expected it to type on two pages simultaneously so you have an automatic copy of whatever you are writing...for legal legal reasons or even for a journalist to have for publishing and archive somehow. :(

If you think about it two originals don't have the same legal standing as an original and a copy. Carbon paper had been known and in use for probably around 100 years when this machine was invented.
