What's especially cool is that they actually hired actors from the country that their characters are supposed to be from. Like the girl who speaks cantonese is actually from Hong Kong, the danish guy is actually a dane, the french ppl are actually french etc. The cast is so diverse, you don't see that very often.

Watching dubbed actually has a major flaw in that it doesn't tell you what language people are speaking. So you would never know where people are from, and in the case of the "Japanese" girl you would never catch that she was speaking Cantonese.

Most of this show was shot in an LED Volume Stage- it is historic, because they had 124 sets they rolled onto the stage. They were then surrounded by LED screens that were everything from the sky and ocean, to trees and dessert in later episodes. They all got to see what we see in that moment, it makes the fear- real. This series is also historic because of the use of multiple languages, 10 were used in all, yet understanding is still key.

Every little thing is important.. Like see the first roomnumber in the assylum at the beginning? Its the same that she has on the ship... But you only see it for a second. Things like this make this great.

Yes! Catching every single detail. A benefit of editing Is that we pretty much watch everything frame by frame. We caught the room number being an inverted version of the number on the ship. The needle going in her neck coinciding with her touching her neck and having an attack…I dunno starting to gather some theories here haha 😃 thanks for commenting!

While already great, Season 2 and 3 gave us so many insane things Noone could have predicted in S1, while still being 100% cohesive in the entire story and being one perfect thing altogether. 1899 S2 and S3 would without a doubt have so many much more interesting things we can't even begin to imagine right now!

I’m really wishing some day we can return to what they created. Even if that means in a couple of years. This is not fair. The creators are heartbroken, the actors are devastated and the audience is mourning. This show deserves better. This proves to everyone Netflix cares only about your money, doesn’t matter if your a loyal audience of X show. If that show isn’t immediately an international success then it’s a failure and they won’t hesitate to cancel. But in the meantime let’s keep adding seasons of other worthless shows out there.

New suscriber! I like your theory about the Bermuda Triangul, maybe it's true cuz we all saw many triangul symbols, even the french lady has earings with those trianguls. Also about the 2nd letter, I think is one of the captains family members that wrote him a letter cuz it didnt had the same remitent name, idk. And I love the original audio! "He's smart, he knows whats going on, he has seen thrillers before" 😂 White rabbit, the song in the end is a fitting ending for the episode, they feel like they are too far down the rabbit hole So fun hearing u hypothize about things, same way as I did when I first watched this, and I was wrong in all guesses until like episode 6 when it starts to get clearer 😂 To be honest I got the "Ghostship" movie vibes so at first I was mostly thinking about that

From the noises being described in the subtitles, i can see that you are most likely on the wrong ones, namely the English [CC] ones (Closed Captioning). These are usually a transcript of the dubbed version of the show (where ALL the different languages are dubbed into English), and thus can be inaccurate for the foreign language scenes, because the prioritize lip synchronicity over translation accuracy. But at the very least, it has all those useless noises, sounds and music decriptions which tend to be distracting, so i would switch to "English" non-CC subtitles. This goes for all shows on Netflix BTW.

Have you already watched the entire season? Because if not, I need to tell you (hopefully, it's non-spoilerish but idk) that it's more sci-fi than it is supernatural. It is VERY sci-fi, very mindbendy and the period backdrop is less important than it is. I'm not sure if that's gonna help you or not but I had a set of expectations that got really thrown off the loop when watching it so I hope this tempers where you think the show is going because it is WILD. I still have to rewatch it because I'm still wrapping my head around what the show is trying to do.
