Well done Josh. Thanks for being honest. No matter what we do, we can't "prevent the skies from showing jet trails...." Likewise, not carrying some modern first aid and water filtration is just too risky in the name of hc/pc. Looking forward to the Schoenbrunn video.

I have been reading The Splendid wayfaring by Neihardt about the exploits of Jedediah Smith and the Ashley Henry men, so far nothing revealing about gear but what a story. The gear teaches you in a way nothing else can because with it you gain that experience then the story takes on a different meaning. You are officially invited to the Bouse Hills Az Rendezvous in Feb of 2019.

Chacote Outdoor Recreation, There is little specific info on gear in most journals as well, but you are right, experience teaches much. Thank you for the invite, wish I was closer.

Josh...really enjoy your videos!!! Especially seeing how your knowledge, skills, clothing, & accouterments are coming along. If you are ever in the area - would love to have you join us at the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association's Spring (June) or Fall (September) Shoots. Great place to stock up on supplies, not to mention lots of shooting events. We are always looking for speakers (hint)!!!! Thanks for what you are doing!!!!

I don't know if you still check comments from this video, but you could probably woodturn a DIY water filtration piece if you have access to a lathe. Imagine the shape of the top quarter or so of an inverted period bottle and in this bottle you would insert alternate layers of rocks or gravel, sand, and charcoal. Strain through a cloth at the "neck" of this filter and your kit is set.

Andy, that's a good idea! Although I do not have access to a lathe, thanks for watching.

I put a split strap on my snap sack and a buckle. I can pack my bag and then roll my blanket around the bag. Rebuckle to size as needed if I have a great coat on or not. I have large ‘overnight’ snap sack and smaller day trip sacks. I also carry a market wallet in my snap sack that I can use to pick up stuff around camp or stuff with leafs and make a pillow out of.

Jeffrey, I had thought about putting a buckle on mine as well, just did not have one at the time, may still do it, it sound like a good idea, I also want to add a smaller market wallet to my kit for day trips, thanks for watching.
