@Real_MisterSir2 ай бұрын
Majority of the Russian regular soldiers are selected 80% from minority regions -while the conscripts are typically made up of more ethnic Russian boys who are stationed at the border because Putin never thought there'd be risk of war at his own territory. So these conscripts being primarily "core Russian", puts much more significant pressure on the Kremlin and people in Moscow who were up until now hardly affected by the war. They were never forced to see the realities of it, until now when their conscript boys got taken capture in a mass surrender. Putin hasn't had to deal with any direct conflict of those affected by the war, until now.
@kevinschultz60912 ай бұрын
As mentioned in the video, they're conscripts - likely from the "important" population centers of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Part of Putin's tacit agreement with his country is that they don't engage in politics, and he leaves them alone. Their sons getting captured, even when they're technically part of the army, means that those population centers start getting politically active, which is something no Russian Tsar wants.

Up to a point. I expect Ukraine knows the value of what they have, and will get all they can for it. A couple of months of being put to work tidying up the devastation Russia has done before being returned might be worth doing in the mean time. The objective is to get these people's families to be stalwartly against the war, and there is a lot of room for tactics in there. You are not limited to return vs keep, even if you are respecting the Geneva convention. Ukraine should be doing whatever they can to convince ordinary Russian citizens not to support the war anymore. Maybe they can convince some of the conscripts being rounded up and sent off to war that the war is not in their interests and they should refuse to fight.

Many Russian soldiers surrendered to the Ukrainians, Russian soldiers realized that you don't have to die for an old and crazy dictator and his gang of criminals and their ideas. Russia will be destroyed slowly and surely. The Russian people must take up arms and take down the dictator Vladimir Putin and his gang of criminal oligarchs, only in this way the Russian people have a chance to recover from the communist dictatorship and prosper!

Ukraine was the jewel of USSR. The most productive in all areas. Including science and technology. They are a lot smarter than the Russians. Russia is huge, but it's mostly wild and inhospitable to farming, with a population that drinks to drown their sorrows, and dream of living in the west.
