More like 5 Ukrainians for 1 ruZZki. The ruZZian propagandists can then spin it into a "see, one ruZZian is worth 5 "Khokols" [its a bad slur i don´t like at all but that is how they call the Ukrainian heroes]. Will be interesting how Solblowjob [or is his son called that way...i´m not sure] and Mkakaever will turn and blow it up. Interesting times, that´s for sure. Sadly, not everyone who returns from captivity, is combat ready. I watched interview with one of Azov fighters who returned during the first exchange, arranged by Turkey. Both of his arms were very badly mangled, but ruZZians not only denied him proper medical care, resulting in badly healed bones, but also kept torturing him. This man was a piano player. He had to undergo numerous excruciating procedures of breaking his bones so that it can heal properly. But most likely, he will never play again.

Absolutly, there is a clear difference between the soldiers that Ukraine take as prisoners and those Russia take prisoners... while the Russian POW gets medical help and even paid while being in prison ... yes they do some work but as I said they do get paid.... atleast according the documentary I saw about this.... while in Russia the Ukraine POW risk death and torture and as you said ... definitly do not look combatready when they get back. And earlier on Warthog Defence they showed video about some decapitation of 2 Ukraine soldiers, don't know if they where dead or they got killed by decapitation ... anyway as I also understood they know who did that and is hunting them down with FPS drones among other things....

Sadly it is war and in war it is much more important to get your fighters back. I would prefer to get the kids back to be honest, but I am intelligent enough to know the soldiers are so much more important. 2 or 3 thousand Ukraine soldiers could help end the war sooner and help return hundreds of thousands of children eventually. And while my heart says get 3000 kids back my brain says wait a little and get them all back. Such a seriously difficult call but so damn important Ukraine gets it right.

Purest irony is that Russian constitution states that consripts can't be used in active combat, they have to be enlisted first, so either Putin's regime is violating the constitution (surprise, surprise) or they are enlisted soldiers and not actually conscripts any more. Obviously there'll be a lot of considerations involved in negotiating the deal(s), but the RF side has been refusing to co-operate on the 'routine' sort for months, and there are some of theirs that are so unvalued that they've been ignored despite being listed for years now. IMHO it could well be worth insisting that that sort of 'ordinary' POW is included in terms of maximising the numbers Ukr can get home... as well as being even more decent and humane to those guys than their own country has been.

They've done a few, mostly unsanctioned. The dead former leader of Wagner Priggy did a few for his non-Storm Z contracted mercenaries back around the last time the Russian Freedom Legion attacked Belgorod with Ukrainian assistance, and criticized Russian officials for refusing to do the same. Then he did the whole coup attempt thing and caught a Russian anti air missile with his teeth so whatever. My point is, prisoner exchanges do happen, but are usually not sanctioned by the higher ups. The Russian assault units are people they think they can lose without a major public outcry. People from poorer regions of Russia, prisoners, people with less family ties. The rear lines are where they put people from the major cities, who're considered less disposable. Majority of the Russian regular soldiers are selected 80% from minority regions -while the conscripts are typically made up of more ethnic Russian boys who are stationed at the border because Putin never thought there'd be risk of war at his own territory. So these conscripts being primarily "core Russian", puts much more significant pressure on the Kremlin and people in Moscow who were up until now hardly affected by the war. They were never forced to see the realities of it, until now when their conscript boys got taken capture in a mass surrender. Putin hasn't had to deal with any direct conflict of those affected by the war, until now.
@kevinschultz6091

As mentioned in the video, they're conscripts - likely from the "important" population centers of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Part of Putin's tacit agreement with his country is that they don't engage in politics, and he leaves them alone. Their sons getting captured, even when they're technically part of the army, means that those population centers start getting politically active, which is something no Russian Tsar wants.

I wonder if Ukraine might not stretch negotiations out for a few months so as to put serious pressure on Russian leaders. And I wonder if Russia in there desperation offer much more than they would have in previous negotiations. This was a very smart move by Ukraine and what is amazing is they are still almost two weeks later capturing young Russian conscripts. Such good news over the last few weeks but I am concerned about revenge attacks by Russia. Let's hope air defenses are ready for it.

If russia is so concerned about the return of conscripts, would it not be better for Ukraine to refuse the exchange of conscripts in order to stoke civil unrest in russia?
@agsystems8220
@agsystems8220 2 ай бұрын
Up to a point. I expect Ukraine knows the value of what they have, and will get all they can for it. A couple of months of being put to work tidying up the devastation Russia has done before being returned might be worth doing in the mean time. The objective is to get these people's families to be stalwartly against the war, and there is a lot of room for tactics in there. You are not limited to return vs keep, even if you are respecting the Geneva convention. You have a literal captive audience for propaganda, and simply telling/showing them the truth is likely to be effective.

Many Russian soldiers surrendered to the Ukrainians, Russian soldiers realized that you don't have to die for an old and crazy dictator and his gang of criminals and their ideas. Russia will be destroyed slowly and surely. The Russian people must take up arms and take down the dictator Vladimir Putin and his gang of criminal oligarchs, only in this way the Russian people have a chance to recover from the communist dictatorship and prosper!
