SubhanAllah both of these brothers are so insightful, I was in awe the whole episode really. I can't help but think of the 14th ayah in Surah Al-Qasas and the 22nd ayah in Surah Yusuf wherein Allah SWT talks about how He bestows knowledge and wisdom upon the people who do good deeds (muhsineen). By hearing these brothers' stories and how they left their old ways behind, even while they were at their peaks, for the sake of Allah SWT is so beatiful Wallahi. They strived in the way of Allah and Wallahi just by their mannerisms, eloquence and outlook on life it's so clear Allah SWT has blessed them with immense knowledge and wisdom. This is the kinda thing people could study their entire lives, but still Allah SWT chooses who He wants to see the real Truth. So many things about this episode were striking but my biggest takeaway was what Muhammad said at 25:40, it really changed my perspective on the trials that I'm going through, and overall is something that I'll make sure to remember! Anyway this was such a pleasant watch, may Allah SWT preserve all of you brothers, keep you steadfast, and continue to bless you in this life in the hereafter, Ameen~

Music production and DJing was one of the hardest thing's to quit for me. Iv had a passion for it, even as a child I would use softwares etc. I kept trying to get rid of the technology many times and regretting it, selling it all for less than 20% as soon as possible because I didnt trust myself near it. I had a laptop for making dawah videos about music and editing videos and Id just end up downloading mixing softwares. It was a long cycle and I thought many times that Id die in that state of music. It feels like your soul is being taken through the frequencies, its very addictive and dark. Many nights of crying, I had serious withdrawal symptoms. I really didnt think I could live without it. It was taking over my life and my skills improved and that made me feel a false sense of power. But deep down after the music stops, the silence sounds foreign and youre left with reality. There is no escape. I would feel guilty for wasting sooo much time on this sin. Keep trying to find creative solutions for example journeling along with sincere repentance. If you make it to jannah you can be a musician! If you can go one whole day without a sin like music then you can do it for the rest of your life.

As a student and somebody who is academically involved i always here about the arabs back then and especially the scholars would memorise huge amount of knowledge in a short period of time. To us in the modern day it seems far fetched. How can we today through the deen attain the sharpness of mind that many of the scholars like islam ibn tayymiyah have. Because wow to have the ability and the same mental capacity as they did would be a super power today. Any tips?

-Ask Allah -Leave off sins. Shafi'i said in a poem, I complained to waqi3 (his teacher) about my memorization ( it became weaker) He tells me to leave off sins Because this science is light (I don't know the traduction of the 4 line) -Also memorization is like a muscle, the more you train it more it is getting better.

Man this is crazy I was wondering what happened to brother muhammed(bonkaz) happy for him he found himself closer to the deen. Thing about this music thing it can distract you from the deen with what it involves etc. Also depends what you rap about which is mainly hard-core stuff haha. I'm trying to stop listening to music but it's in the process. Some of the rap has deep meanings and can make you stay away from bad stuff but others encourage to do bad stuff. Regardless his music was good top tier used to vybz to it all the time haha. Lit guy. Big up bonkaz great to see this transition.
@jamrah87132 жыл бұрын
i agree that music can have some "good" message in it, but the thing is that even if you listen to music like this you will eventually slip into it (the very bad stuff). I said that i will only listen to instrumental stuff but i ended up just listening to it. In my personal view, i believe in the past music itself wasnt inherently bad until Iblis weaponised it to purposely misguide us. Im not saying this is fact but this seems like the case especially since the christians (of the past where the scripture wasnt altered) used music. I can be wrong though completely and allah knows best. Take my comment with a grain of salt. My advice is to try cut it off completely, even music that can seem "good".
