Why do I have a feeling that you can only be a really successful chef if you have a rich family with plenty of connections? I remember when I was 19, I was just as passionate and work driven as him. But I couldn't afford a free labor work because I needed to survive. I wanted to open my own place, but I didn't have a rich family. Not even sure if I could even open one if I'm living off with $14/hour while it's already hard to pay rent. A lot of you guys would probably say, "oh stop being such a whiner" or "he works hard so he deserves it!" Tbh, I'm thankful for him. For his talents and passion, it's definitely being put into a good place. His family definitely admire him a lot. Plus, I always respect a chef that is full of passion. But in my reality, it's not as grand. Anyways, I'm still hoping to have a place on my own in the future. I'm saving up money for it. I'll update you guys in about 25 years or more.

If he really wants to open a restaurant, he should work his way up and get more experience before venturing into this business, restaurant business are very risky, do you know many restaurant closes yearly? experience is very important in restaurant business, he has never work as a head chef and run a kitchen let alone a restaurant, and he decides to invest in a restaurant serving ambitious and expensive food. The expenses are to keep the place operating are high, ask any businessman and they will definitely say it is not a good idea, but he gets away with it because his parent can afford to pay even if the restaurant failed. Don't care about your age, learn to do it now. Here's a super easy one for soft boiled eggs in a microwave (you gotta start somewhere). Get a small bowl, put water in, put 1 or 2 eggs in(without shell), cover it (super important), microwave for 50 secs to 1 min on medium. If not enough time to cook (still translucent) add in 10 secs. Scoop with a slotted spoon (a spoon with holes). Add salt/spices/soya sauce then eat. When you get comfortable with the above, its time to fry eggs Sunny Side Up. Put oil or butter (savory or sweet) and spread over the pan. If with butter, heat it on super low to melt the butter and spread it (just swirl the pan with your wrist). Crack egg vertically on a flat surface, use fingers of both hands to separate the halves of the egg shell over the pan to put the eggs in. Heat egg with super low heat, add in salt & spices and cover it (a clear pan cover is better to see if the eggs are cooked). Usually cooks a little over a minute when all translucent egg whites are gone.

Title: 19 year old opens a restaurant First sentence in the video: I didn't want to open a restaurant

I worked for someone like this. It was a 21 year old kid who had all the passion in the world. Obviously his father blew millions of dollars on his restaurant. It was a *horrid* experience working for him. He was extremely passionate but had no business sense and the restaurant was dead all the time. He was always spending tons of money changing the restaurant/menu to no avail. The restaurant closed shop recently and apparently lost about 1 million dollars a year. I think the hate on this video is valid. His parents are rich and bought him everything he has. It isn't fair to the other hard working people who deserve a restaurant and will never get one because they dont have rich parents. Also, the shit he's spewing about "working since 12" and "investors" is a bunch of horseshit. No one can legally work at 12 and his "investors" he's referring to are obviously just his parents.

I really dont get how people could get upset at someone doing / being born in a better condition than them. Like, okay.....? Instead of hating on someone that is in a far better spot than you are, someone that doenst even know you exist, and that your hate comments wont even change anything to his life, ever. Why not just take a good look at your own life and try to make it better....like i know some people wont be able to reach this dudes level even if they worked all their lives for it, but being bitter wont add anything good to, why not just be happy.... The only thing fair in life is that its unfair to everybody.

YO first of stop saying how it isn't newsworthy because he's a rich kid, so what if he's a rich kid his mom or dad or someone had to work their ass off to get that money and just because he's rich that doesn't mean you should call him unnewsworthy, if you people are so worried about people being rich well than i can worry and complain about you being you. mind your own buisnes your just too jealous because hes rich which goes to show that you just want their money.

Great job. A lot of people can’t take something they love. And turn it into their future. Meg was a good mom.

Man.. this is why perspective/context is so important. This kid says "it's free labor, everyone's down to have it" about getting an internship at 11madisonpark. So many aspiring chefs would kill for an internship there to learn from the greats.

You work 18 hours a day for 6 days a week that's 108 hours a week wtf. You need 8 hrs sleep to be healthy and you only have 6 hours. Inspirational tho

That's chef life. 18 hours is a bit too much. Most I've done is 14 hours for 7 days straight. There's no sleep in our dictionary.
@lawrenceshdow6 жыл бұрын
some people need 8 some need 4. Some prefer different life styles. Its all good as long as you aren't leaning on others in the world. Be self sufficient, be capable and earn your own.. 15 years, I slept about 4 or 5 hours a day and worked non stop. I slowed down now at 34 years old and I am so much more aware of what actually matters in life. Now; I work 4 days a week and spend as much time with my family and friends as I possibly can.
@mickydee8966 жыл бұрын
i call bullshit on the 18 hours a day. every week. 6 days a week. chefs are such self righteous tossers sometimes
@lawrenceshdow6 жыл бұрын
michael Thorn you never know. The owner of a catering company I worked with was in his kitchen open to close and cleanup 7 days a week the entire time I was with them. Everyone there told me he'd done that since the beginning 15 years ago. That varied from 12 to 18 hours a day. He bought the house next door so that he'd have time to sleep more. While I was there I remember him taking two week long vacations... Even after he sold the business for a couple million dollars; he still stayed at least 10 hours a day as an employee and usually 5 or 6 days a week; at 60 years old!.

It's amazing how many negative comments there are. Who cares if he comes from a wealthy background. It takes passion and a lot of dedication to achieve what he has. The thing I love about this kid is that he has a clear mission in life and that has helped him make the choices he has made. I see a lot of people a lot older who still don't know what to do with their lives....congrats to u buddy...

He's talented, that's it But working in kitchen means long hours,pressure, especially with that price point',so he's definitely working his a** off I hope he can get Michelin stars though in the future

It sad to see some people saying that a driven young man would push himself into a space that is EXTREMELY difficult because he had MONEY to get him there...BS. It proves that even though we watched the same video, we don’t hear the same things...saaaadd. Keep up the amazing work young man.

The top comment saying “let’s face he was probably rich”. Wealth isn’t the factor here, it may or not be a factor I don’t know this guys background. Respect to him, he’s doing something he’s passionate about and doing way more than most 19 year olds. He’s got the right attitude. Wish that restaurant all the success it deserves.

While he definitely has some willpower to start and maintain a business, there are literally tens of millions of people on this planet who could do the same or even better if they had the upbringing that he got. It's very hard to make money when you have none to begin with.

*I predict:* *This is exactly how Meghan Markle's and Prince Harry's son will look like 20 years into the future.* *The only differences: his hair will be more wavy and his skin tone will be darker.* *I also predict:* *Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will name their son Sean.*
