The "touch" thing was a blow under the belt from Carlini. They both saw that the pawn move was probably a losing move. Botaz would not have made a good move anyway, by moving Rd6. She shouldn't have left the bishop under attack, and Bc5 took it out of danger with tempo. So she would be able to take the rook out of danger too, after rbb1. The way she played, Kg2 the rook in d was unpinned and that is exactly what Carlini did. The best she could do was to trade the bishop and the promoting pawn for a rook. Every move that kept that biship defending the pawn and get out of attack would keep it equal.

My dad teached me "Berührt ist geführt" meaning if you touch a piece you need to move it. So you need to think first before doing it. But I don't get it here, don't they have to agree on that rule before the game starts? And why is it only counting for her and not for him. e.g. @7:38 He touches the rook but then moves the king? Or when they state "Touch move" is it counting only for one turn?
@MasterPowa3
@MasterPowa3 2 жыл бұрын
It is stated that it's clock move, and saying "touch" for no reason is something this group of players do to sort of mess with each other. It is very likely that Carlini just said it out of habit and didn't realize that Andrea might actually fall for it
@Alkis05
@Alkis05 2 жыл бұрын
@@MasterPowa3 Well, both moves were bad. Maybe she just didn't see a good move. Should've moved the bishop and keep protecting the pawn until better opportunity presented itself. Then again, she was low on time, so that's tough.

 @Tom the rules are clock move unless stated otherwise by the players smart one. so if a player yells "touch" in the middle of a game, they're changing the rules of the game so it can be in their favor. then later on, not following the rules of "touch" that they made their opponent follow? that's cheating. not trash talk. yelling, "touch" is deceptive game play that directly affects how a player plays chess over the board by talking about the rules of how to play the game.
@quantessenz
@quantessenz 5 ай бұрын
@@Hester_prynne If you know coffee chess, it is part of the trash talk. The other player also has to remember the other one with the call "touch", if he/she wants to insist on it. Otherwise, anybody can do what they want in this situation.

@AqueousFire 2 жыл бұрын
Carlini yelling "TOUCH" when he knows it's clock move is such a dirty trick. It doesn't matter whether or not she would have found the bishop move afterwards, the point is she was still thinking it through and didn't get the chance to AND even if she listened to everyone telling her she can switch pieces she would have lost so much time on this whole exchange when she was already in time trouble
