Good for you man. From experience, consider finding some support, though. I don’t know you, but for myself, the year/365 day mark things changed and without a counselor I am pretty sure I would have relapsed. Still, 224 days is awesome.

Sober 14 years. Started my journey in Afghanistan while I was deployed. Got severely wounded by a suicide bomber in February of 2007. Was on a lot of narcotics while recovering from injures. Took my last drink in a casino in Vegas on May 27th 2007. My life has been a series of miracles since and I owe it all to getting sober.

The phone is a bigger addition than all the addictions put together. The rehabs are full of internet addicted people. I'm 18 years sober but this phone is sticking to me like a parasite. 10 months no alcohol here after 17 years. Congrats brother. My takeaway from addiction is that people who never experienced that do not understand the vast mental swings and demons that takeover your mindset. 99% of my friends we're made at bars, I quit, now maybe have 2 friends. It takes time to recover and time to rebuild socially. Isolation can be extreme and it's important to have people around. I'm rooting for you 100% and here's to another 19 years! You are an inspiration.

Going on 4 years clean for me. Congrats my friend. Stay strong. I talked to a professor about my previous life when I was a drug addict and he mentioned he was an alcoholic years ago. He said addicts have a different perspective of life when they get clean because they know what it feels like to be dead inside and once you are clean you realize how beautiful life is and love every day. That resonated with me a lot.

Thank you for speaking the truth instead of the 12 step nonsense that Russell and so many others preach. I quit 100% on my own, so deserve 100% of the credit. Why should I waste time sitting around talking about past mistakes with others when I can get on with my life?

Good on you Russell ! In my younger years I was addicted to alcohol. I needed alcohol to just function, I had a mum that was not meant to be a parent, she would come home after work and just start to scream, belt and verbally just take away our spirit. I learnt at an early age to take a drink of any liquor that was in the drink cabinet so I could feel no pain. So I became an alcoholic. I so wanted to stop drinking, but I thought if I did I would die . Then Easter 1999 changed my life. A professor that I knew noticed I was struggling and that I was a tortured soul, decided to help heal me . He invited me to his place Easter Friday and with his family they had a healing prayer for me, I have been alcohol free from that day. Amen 🙏 I have not been to any AA meetings and it feels like I have never had a problem. I thank the good Lord for saving me that day.

Very inspiring, Russell. After 30 years of drinking, I finally realized that alcohol provides me with no benefits. I can, however, make a substantial list of the negative effects of alcohol on my body and spirit. Today is my 36th day since I’ve had a drop. Taking it one day at a time. Watching videos like this helps me immensely. So, thank you!

Good for you Russell! I haven't had any Alcohol in almost three years now. I stopped drinking when I realized that 99% of all bad decisions I'd made was after being under the influence of alcohol. Feels great to wake up in the morning never having a hangover. Tried weed, but never got hooked into using any drugs. I think one of the main problems with society today is the lack of community. I see people walk their dogs reading stuff on their phone, not actually being aware of the world. Others blindly go to work and acts as robots, not using their critical thinking ability and ignoring what their body and mind says. I'm in the process of going minimalistic by selling most of my belongings, and eventually moving onto a sailing boat with which I'm planning to be a net positive for the world ;) Cheers to you bro!

11 years ago i was a homeless, drug addicted thief that was in and out of institutions, jail, shelters, and the street. Now I manage 2 stores and people today are shocked that I had problems. Look folks...for you that are struggling today, you hear these stories all the time and "KNOW" that'll never be you. I felt the exact same way. I can't tell you how you're going to get off the stuff, but I can tell you that no matter how deep your problems are.... You can stop them. You can solve your issues. Take the easiest thing to fix...and fix it. Stop trying to do all of it at once. ... I'm here to talk if you want what advice I can give. I can tell you how I got out of that life. Maybe it can help ya out.

I got out of that life for the most part. That was easy compared to learning to live without everything else! Giving up the opiates were necessary so that made it easier. Giving up alcohol & weed & shrooms & ambian & xanex & everything else is much more difficult.

@@bobbycecere1037 I manage two vape shops in Pittsburgh..but we mainly sell natural alternatives to all that stuff you mentioned. Delta 8 is a newish available legal cannabinoid that has way more calming effects than delta 9. Plus it's cheaper. CBD flower is an absolute godsend. Look into kratom. That's more intensive but considering what you're on...it may be necessary. Also, valerian root, passionflower, skullcap... All that works. Supplement with potassium, vitamin D C and B12. Magnesium is paramount. Eat better. Drink water. I know these sound like obvious things but most of us don't give them a good try. I was in pain management for only 6 months and it turned me into a raging junkie. After being introduced to kratom I quit going immediately. Granted I have permanent nerve damage...I need pain control. So I use kratom. But for everything else I use what's listed above. I'm telling you dude...I felt noticably better after just a few weeks. It's worth a try.

I am 8 years clean and sober and I am so proud of myself and all those that have fought these demons, addiction and are living a successful recovery. Thank you Russell for having the courage to speak about your past and your bright future. I was severely injured in Afghanistan and subsequently prescribed painkillers during months and months of recovery and rehab. Through treatment, I realized that my youth led to my adulthood being predisposed to addiction and that I would have the fight of my life on my hands. As my life and family were being destroyed from the inside out, i reached the lowest point of my life and knew if I didn't change and get off these pills I would be broke and worse possibly dead. Through a strong support system and my determination to change my life, I've been slowly conquering my addiction and living my best life. Thank you Russell and for all those out there battling addiction...you can do it and I have faith in you, even if you don't!

At one time, I would have considered myself in hard opposition to everything you stood for. That was before my enlightenment. I became a Trump populist, not because I was infatuated with giving my loyalty to a narcisistic billionaire, but because i trusted that he was the only true disrupter of politics as usual. He was not afraid to take on the corrupt system here in the states, but he was taken down by the oligarchy rather easily. I thought our last best hope was lost. I finally discovered your voice and was buoyed by your honesty and your ability to speak truth to power in a way the was truly inclusive. I feel honored to be one of the 2.4 million and I salute your 19 years of journey to self awareness. Brother, we need you. We need you on all sides of the political spectrum to bring us together to fight the current corrupt cabal. Humanity needs understanding, compromise and freedom to live without the tyranny of Big Brother dominating our lives. You Brother, have become a guiding light. She is a big fan of yours and saw you talking about recovery, it gave her the courage to admit she had an issue with alcohol. She studied your journey and applied it to her life, she went to AA, got a sponsor, a therapist, support from friends and family. This was a 2 years ago, and she had the courage to do it through the duress of lockdowns and madness in Australia. She held on and her life has changed dramatically. July 17 1994 Alcohol was my primary choice. I never acknowledged I was addicted and alcoholic as well with a living deeper need for it, a sicker craving that kept bothering my work and marriage. It definitely wrecked me. So much about me that drove me to my knees one morning, figuritively but damn near physically, as I took my coffee outside before work one day...And I felt a spiritual moment like I had never ever had with Jesus, my Lord and Saviour, who spoke so many things with just his presence. I was moved. Inspired to be stronger, and my cravings were disappearing. I did lose my marriage and job, moved cross country, and even slipped in my recovery but since my sobriety date I can honestly say I would not change it for anything. WTG Russell and others. Self abuse is what it is. Be careful and stay sober + clean. Seasons Greetings! ❤🌲🌟

Many people expressed their thanks to my mom for being there for them to me when I made calls to let them know she had passed away...I never knew how many people she impacted until I made those calls. I'll never forget it.

Congrats my friend. I have 15 years off of heroin. And I would not change a thing. I experienced so many life lessons from what I went through. Everything happens for a reason, aye.

1769 days. He's 100% spot on. I could not have done it without the help of countless people. Counselors, countless meetings, speakers, fellow patients many that have become friends some of them are gone, old friends and family. I felt their their love and still do. I'm at the point where I know I will never go back to that. It was such a horrible life and way to live. Even as I suffer through a painful condition, and pride myself on knocking the morphine out of the hand of the hospital staff when they tried to give it to me. (Not literally LOL) yes life is suffering but you don't have to make it any worse you just deal with it reach out if you have to. Thanks Mr brand a really great video

Congratulations and thank you so much for sharing this important and inspiring message. Tomorrow (December 14th) I’ll be 3 years sober and I hope to find a way to inspire others who are seeking this freedom, the reminder of one day at a time and the basis of spiritual emptiness for addiction are my experience as well. I hope everyone watching this will know that you CAN overcome anything you’re going through whether it’s drugs and alcohol or another type of addiction, there is a light at the end of the tunnel ❤️

Congratulations Russell! I just hit five years myself. I never truly knew clarity until I gave up the things that were holding captive in my own personal prison. It's lifechanging, and more importantly, life-preserving.

I can see how the assistance of others helps addicts get through the hard times of recovery. You cannot give all of the credit to others without looking at how changes in your personal life and essentially rewriting a fair percentage of one's personality. Take responsibility for you victories as much as you do your failures.

I just did my 20 year anniversary off the drink back in 2001. Best thing i ever did. Somehow managed not to give up giving up and made it through. To everyone trying to stay straight, my heart is with you. it is a long walk, but it gave me my life back

Congratulations 🎉 I'm a little over 15 years. It feels good and after a while you just don't think about it. Removing problematic people, learning about our own addictive tendencies, and usually some kind of trauma are often the underlying causes.

Russel, don’t underestimate the amazing thing you’ve achieved. Through this channel you’re most probably helping more people than you realise. I’m in my 70’s and remember what you were like but I just love following you now even if you do use fancy words I don’t understand some times 😂. Well done you.

Congratulations, I will be clean five years this January only realising I had a problem after my liver packed up. I have found it the most horrific and also beautiful roller coaster ride I have ever experienced. I have now found myself in calmest place I have lived in, pat on the back to all that take this ride.
