Avocado books? You can never get the timing right of when you buy and when they ripen for you to eat - then they go off so fast!

I had “library anxiety” at Christmas last year - three books that I had waited months for, all came at once and at the busiest time! AARRGGH! However, I did not know about “deliver later” or “manage hold” (as a commenter mentioned), so I have learned something! Read Rebecca! It’s so good!
@circleofleaves2676 Жыл бұрын
You guys should make some buttons (as in badges/pins) with the words "deliver later" on it, because, get it, it would be your favourite BUTTON.

Pretty sure I saw in a Becky Chambers interview/discussion that Monk and Robot was only to be a duology, and a duology of novellas, at that. She's definitely confirmed that the Wayfarers series is complete at 4 books. I think you'll absolutely love that series too. Oh and make sure you read the dedication pages of the M&R books, they're so sweet.

Funny you should say Library anxiety, my library card had to be verified (since I’m not in district) and my Libby app was about to cancel my hold on a book if I didn’t do it soon (a book which I’ve been waiting for for 9 weeks) 😅. Nobody was answering the phones since it was PACKED so I had to go in person and wait in huge line

We just had our big book sale on apr 21 and 22 in Manitoba in one of our malls. I bought 16 books for 35.00. Bought alot of classics. I went to grab 2 Robin Hobb books and thet were scooped up. 😢

Library anxiety is real 😂 But. What you can do is to use the tags to tag the books you're interested in. I have one tag just for those books and when I need to pick up a new one I go to that tag and see what's available. But if it's a new book that the library didn't have before then yeah, 'deliver it later' is the way to go. XD

Definitely have experienced the feeling of all of the libby holds coming in all at once! I swear I place multiple holds that say they have wildly different wait times over the span of a few weeks and they all become available at the same time. Before I knew about the deliver later button I definitely had times where I would have like 15 audiobooks all at the same time and would be so overwhelmed that I wouldnt listen to any of them! I think I’ve mentally referred to it as book hold overwhelm but I like the library anxiety term, I also love the comment suggesting “Libby deluge”

It happens all the time haha I feel like they do it on purpose sometimes 2 or 3 holds always come in at the same time! I hate when I am being optimistic and accept more than 1 loan and don’t finish 1, it gets returned and then I have to ask for it again. Its a never ending cycle 😂
@AdventuresInPages Жыл бұрын
Ariel I know exactly what you mean. Seeing the "x amount of people are waiting" in Libby gives me so much anxiety and I want to be so considerate but also don't want to wait another 5 weeks but also what if I'm not in the mood? Consideration paralysis for sure.
