Thank you, Brent and Andrew, for a very complete tour and sound exploration of this period instrument. Andrew is a master demonstrator for the many instruments he has shown on this program. I like how he experiments with sounds and blending with contrast of stops.

I thought the stop compass was quite impressive, allowing for many expressions in music. Well-designed and thought out. Thanks for a great tour.

The swell is almost shocking. At first I thought it may have been preferential microphone placement but you guys kept correcting my hypothesis.

We sang at St. Casmir's Church the night that the school caught fire back in 1976. I remember the organ very well - although it has had some work done to it since, but kudos for the AGO docket on the menu. The Organ is very articulate and well balanced even the new choir addition (well new in the1920's anyway) and.. the acoustics - you can't go wrong with that. Just enough to make everything sound good and not so much that it can't make articulation sound bad!

Another fascinating demo of a wonderful instrument. Some very nice sounds in there but that Swell Oboe is surely a misprint!! Even the scale of the pipes looks more trumpety than oboeish. Also has to be said that Brent and Andrew make a great presenting pair - clearly two organ enthusiasts whose knowledge make these videos really interesting. As always, thank you for posting.

Nice! Have you considered doing a presentation on the 1898 A. B. Felgemaker (Opus 664) in Duluth's former Sacred Heart Cathedral/S. H. Music Center (1894)? Original install, original specifications. Musically unaltered, hand-pump long gone.

I think that ABF #731 was not made in 1902, but in 1900. Reason why is because ABF #732 is in First Baptist church, Madison, IN. ITS ORIGINAL PLACEMENT. With OHS info, plus the dates written on some of the wood pipes! And church history. It is a 14 rank 2 manual tracker. Lovingly restored by Brad Rule of Knoxville, TN. About 10-15 years ago! I was the consultant on the project! I am a retired pipe organ tech, and former organist of that church. It was featured on the Louisville, KY Southern IN OHS convention played by Jane Edge. In 1993 or 1994. Feel free to give any ideas on this subject! John Ball, LaGrange,KY.

My neighborhood! Beautiful church inside and out. Any word on the organ at Trinity Lutheran that was damaged in the fire?

Total loss. Many of the rescued parts were sent to Dobson and destroyed in their factory fire.

The bass is extreme on this organ.

A lot can have to do with the recording equipment, the fact youtube compresses and reduces file sizes, and now you are playing a recording over a nother device an whatever speakers it has,it's certainly not going to be that accurate.

The bass compresses the sound so the treble gets suppressed. You can't judge the organ by these recordings.

Wow at about 27:15 when he puts the Vox Humana with the other strings. So many people trash on American organs for being "tubby", and while yes, there are organs (usually smaller ones) that sound truly awful, I really feel like most of the time it is just due to people not understanding how to use the instrument correctly, or trying to use it to play music it is just not designed for. Yes you can play pretty much anything on pretty much anything, certain organs are undeniably built/designed for certain types of music, and people just don't understand that.

Nice organ and acoustic. Maybe your organist should take a lesson from Thomas Murray to learn how to properly use an Aeoline!

This organ is a great instrument! Don't understand how you and Ryan can be chairpersons of 2024 as neither of you lives in Milwaukee, site of the convention. I was pushed out as convention chair in 1990 because I had recently moved to Tampa. A real let-down as I had already prepared the entire convention. I don't mean to be critical, but it is a MILWAUKEE Convention!

Things change over the 34 years since 1990

@@HobbyOrganist Poor answer. As far as I know, nothing's changed in the OHS bylaws regarding this issue. Please forgive me for being sensitive on this topic after 34 years. Your answer was callous and insensitive.
