So... place your bets... Is your money on the E30 M3? Or JC's 190E Cosworth?
@jonathanj.48003 жыл бұрын
E30 was a faster car originally I think
@beratsbuilds3 жыл бұрын
The E30 is the faster car on track, the 190E the more sophisticated one for daily use. I don't Know the level of preparation and customization that went into the 190E, but it will be hard to run the M3 down with the Mercedes. That been said, I have a huge soft spot in my heart for the Cossie E190, because my Old neighbor had one in his driveway and we got to drive it every once in a while. He has all the iterations in his garage now, worth north of half a million euros, which is crazy

One of the reasons why aero hood pins are nice. You see them sticking up when they are not latched. Nice driving! Thanks for the episode!
@ivanamaya29383 жыл бұрын
I had a hood fly up on track but we smashed the windshield. Corner worker at turn 4 sat on my hood so I could latch it. We couldn't go on track for a few hours waiting for the replacement to cure. My favorite channel I've recently started to follow.

Dang! You need a buddy to come with you on track days to keep you on point. Car looked good on the track, maybe a slight adjustment on the coilovers? You looked tight going into the turns? FYI I liked the color on your old canon lol
@stanceworks3 жыл бұрын
I had plenty of buddies there... perhaps that was half the problem! Too much fun, not enough attention. I definitely need to make some damping adjustments.

Yesterday while unloading my car I set my phone on the lip of the trunk and thought "If you leave this here you'll crush it when you close the trunk" and thought the same thing you did, if I acknowledge that of course I won't do it...and I did it. Also can confirm, I had hood pins on a car in the past and forgot to put them back in and lost a hood. Thanks for showing that we all have those moments lol

An ex airplane mechanic friend of mine told me one time - "Tighten it like you mean it". I think they're trained to never walk away from any job that's not fully complete. That's saved me a few times. That said, it's a fiberglass hood, you can probably repair it easily enough. Don't know who won, but your lines looked smooth and it seemed like you were carrying plenty of momentum, so well done!

What a fucking mess of a day 😅 I'm happy to see you had fun at least! As you said lessons learned. In our society, specially as you are starting to be a vloger it has to be stressing losing the chance to film something cool, but never forget that what matters is living the moment. Fuck sharing everything. If you had fun it is enough!! Killer shots at the end. Loved them 🖤

E30 smashes front lid into rear view mirror, sunset shot on track still looks ace. We all learn our lessons, some are more painful than others but as long as its just material & replaceable...

There are new rules that I'm trying to follow to prevent things like this; 1. Everything has a home, its where it goes back when we are done, no exceptions 2. Bag things if they are removed 3. If something goes back on the car, it HAS to get torqued down, no loose hardware. 4. Keep a small journal for tracking service on the old cars. (3.5x5.5inch notebooks are perfect and fit in the glove box)
@timothywolleck76283 жыл бұрын
Don’t beat yourself up too bad. We all make mistakes because we have so much on our minds before going out on track. I have a check list before going to the track and a checklist before each session. It puts my mind at ease so I can concentrate on my driving.
@stanceworks3 жыл бұрын
That's something I should look into for sure.
@dlees143 жыл бұрын
I always try and leave stuff on the driver seat. I won't miss it there. One thing I make sure to follow through to completion is torquing the wheels and strapping car to trailer. I won't stop and talk, once I start I just finish no matter what.

1. What are all these mirrors in the BMW for (not a track person)? 2. Knockaround shades on fleek. Best value polarized sunglasses ever made.
@stanceworks3 жыл бұрын
The mirror in the car is called a Broadway mirror, and it gives you a massive range of view as opposed to a normal rear view. There are no blind spots, and it gives you a huge field of view. It's mainly used in cars for door to door racing so you can see where the others are.
@towlie9113 жыл бұрын
Sick! What diff setup are you running? The stock 2 clutch preloaded diff? Proper setup on the rear end makes a huge difference on e30s in my experience. More track content pls

In the in-car footage you seem to select 1st gear as left and forward. What gearbox is in this? The E30 M3 came with the dogleg gertrag box I thought? Looking forward to the result of the battle. I liked the 190 Cosworth but have always been an E30 M3 fan.
@stanceworks3 жыл бұрын
Only european M3s came with the dogleg transmission. Mine is a grey-market (european) car, but the dog leg was removed long before I ever got the car.

standard 238 hp thing or upgrades ? With Group A you'd reach 1:30 something. And the car is so much better.
@racer193wr3 жыл бұрын
Being at a racetrack by yourself sucks especially if your driving. Its hard enough to concentrate on just racing let alone all the things that have to go into working on the car. Way back when I did race I tried to have a friend with me just as a second set of eyes on the car and equipment.
@michaelmckay3 жыл бұрын
Rematch when the car is sorted and you have a couple more laps on the track. You are losing time in the last corner, you can take that way harder, but you have to be outside at 1.20 of your lap, you are in the middle of the track because you turned in too early at 1.18 and it is a flat out in turn 8-9. You can set the car down to get the front grip to turn in but you should not have to, for sure no need for brakes. Its scary your first few times but you get the hang of it fast.
@jdmfreak223 жыл бұрын
Mike! Awesome video. Didn't your car come with the dogleg trans? (I think that's what you call it in the US when it's: R24 135?). The S14 320is ("baby M3" for the italian/portuguese market) I drove had that trans and I LOVED IT!
