You don't need a flying helmet, you need a _Pickelhaube_ and a Kaiser Wilhelm II moustache for that thing! Great job. Congratulations.

Beautiful! You can tell that the designer was trying to imitate a bird with his design. Especially the wing tips and tail feathers. Simply well-done.

It's amazing to see the oldest designs actually fly. That thing has as much rigging as a clipper ship, engine was heavy and low powered, the airframe was fragile, and in spite of all its technical drawbacks it still had one great attribute that kept the designers moving forward. That is, it could fly. A pretty amazing thing in those days and just as amazing now.
@szennyvizcsatorna2483 Жыл бұрын
Low-powered? Sir, that engine's power from that size of engine is really not able to reach even in 1960's in soviet era! The Lohner- Taube aircrafts are wery powerful! 64 Kw from a Mercedes- Benz water cooled 4 piston engine in 1910 is impressive amount of power!

I'm absolutely astonished by your video. I didn't even knew that the Taube had foldable wings! I the books I have on the matter it is not even mentioned, much less shown in plans. My total and most sincere admiration for your research , developement and construction on a most beloved plane. AG.

argat11 you voiced my thoughts exactly! I am completely astonished at this accomplishment- impressed is not an adequate adjective but I am impressed tremendously. My guess is that this is Virginia where he is flying ? The resources necessary to do this also boggle my mind

8:14 Amazingly this plane on final approach looks like a 747 when filmed straight-on from the ground... both were visionary aircraft when they each took to the runways of time. Cool video, and thanks for keeping aviation history in the air today.

Everything about this is great, the plane, the music, and the flying. 👍 It’s so cool to see such a faithful replica take to the skies. I wish I had one myself.

Can you imagine how it was? One day, you hear they have these things called aero-planes, that fly in the air. And then you see one. And then a few years later, you see a plane like this once every blue moon, flying over. And you are amazed.

It is a mechanical bird! Very beautiful, and the flyer is mighty brave. If you make another video, it would be nice to see the plane from overhead and directly from below to show off the bird-like shape. Also some close-ups and a tour of the different shapes, components, artistic features and engineering features would be a pleasure to see. It must have been a huge challenge to make something this complex that you would trust with your life.

An incredible achievement and a beautiful bird like design. I assume it is wing warping as I did not see ailerons. Lovely wings and tail feathers, it looked a joy to fly, but a calm weather flier I imagine. The folding wings are an advanced design and take up a smaller hanger space. I take my hat off to you as an ultralight flyer we have perhaps more modern attributes and engine reliability? Greetings from Tasmania Australia, 👍😁🇦🇺🦘

Now look at what you did, you created a work of art and a beautiful one at that. Maybe this is the real future of homebuilt aircraft, exact replicas that are slow flyers and with better engines and some structure changes in materials to increase strength or torsional stresses. With that said it must be a handful to fly with wing warping and limited dihedral. All of the rigging must sing in the wind and after awhile you wil note any changes that might spell disaster. I want a Santos Du mont Demosille (sic). Also a kite flyer known as the Red Devil. The original is somewhere in a garage in California awaiting a rebuild/restoration.

9:50 Never stop the engine by cutting off the magnetos, you never know if someone is gonna touch that propeller afterwards, and with just a small force it can break your arm or skull and even kill you. always cut the mixture
