Thank you for your hard work on this video. It's hauntingly beautiful. My Grandfather and Great Grandfather were killed in Harlan Co Kentucky. You do an excellent job paying tribute to your relative who survived (thank God) as well as those poor unfortunate men who did not make it out alive.

Great job Dennis. My great grandfather (Stoots) and generations of relatives (Stoots, Stone) to the time they shut it down worked there. Spent many evenings talking to the hoist man as he pulled that black gold up from the holes.

Great piece of work. I briefly lived in Princeton and worked in Welch back in 1978 and developed an affinity for WV.

Dennis, my family are the Vance’s and the Duncan’s. I think my cousin Pat Duncan still lives there. My grandfather was Ed Vance and he was an electrician in the Eccles mine for decades.

Thank you Dennis, extremely well done. My grandparents lived in Eccles. My grandfather, dad, and my uncle worked in the Eccles Mines. My grandfather’s name was Okey Bostic, grandmother was Bernice Bostic and their 2 sons were my dad, Elwood Bostic and his brother Forest Bostic. Not sure the number of years that they lived there but they eventually built a house on Harper Road. As a small child I do remember going to the Country Store. Thank you again for a story well told.
