This particular recording is beautifully eerie. 1914 was still during the peak of their Empire, but it was also the eve of the Great War, which was in some ways the beginning of the end of said empire. In a few more decades’ time, the empire this song praises was no more. Still a beautiful country with a hell of a culture though. 🇬🇧

WW1 finatic, you had troops in France but only 120,000 active combat roles with only 80,000 dead in the whole war while Britain lost 76,000 and more in the somme alone and your username is meant to be spelt "ww1 fAnatic" The Entente would of won WW2 without the Americans since the Brits made the first tanks and France had the best tanks with a 360o rotating turret, with America not even developing their own tanks used in the fronts of WW1 The British empire single handed brought down the Ottoman Empire to its knees with the Arab revolution Serbia did more in WW1 then the US with Serbia having every man from 14-65 fighting since they had little to no manpower and still beating the Austro-Hungarian empire while fighting a Balkan war and the ottomans
