Misschien word ik te oud en heb ik teveel films gezien of weet ik teveel over de eerste wereldoorlog hoewel ik zeker geen specialist ben. Hoe dan ook, ik vond de film een enorme tegenvaller. Het bij elkaar plakken van semi indrukwekkende plaatjes met bombastische muziek zonder interessante verhaallijn, fijne karakters, interessante dillemma`s of ook maar iets wat een film of verhaal interessant kan maken. ´Oh ja, er moet ook nog een vrouw tussen, even die ergens in het verhaal plakken´, even wat slecht jatten van ´O brother where art thou´ en ook nog wat smerigheid want het is tenslotte een film over oorlog. Script klaar.

u vraagt om een verhaal lijn maar het is een waargebeurd verhaal dan kunnen ze erg toch ook geen sprookje van maken het moet wel realistisch blijven.

What a shit show. This movie was made with cinematographic effect in mind. Only. Ingenious camera work is not a enough to make a good movie. It's a turd wrapped in gift paper. it feels like a collage of cut scenes from a game. You know that empty feeling after the final cut scene in a game? When you start to think to yourself "What have I been playing all these hours?" That emptiness applies to this movie as well. "WTF have I been watching??" THIS IS NOT A SPOILER ALERT - THIS IS AN ALERT NOT TO SPOIL YOUR MONEY ON THIS MOVIE Crossing deadly enemy lines only to be picked up by an allied platoon in motor vehicles? How convenient. A German pilot who just got shot down - barely surviving the plane crash- stabs his buddy to death screaming for water? Why? Why move his mates' dead body around? Better camera angle? Shoots down a German sniper only to be shot himself by that same sniper? Compare that to the sniper scene in 'Saving Private Ryan'. If you watched SPR you'll never forget that scene. Where the wow factor in this movie? The emotional effect? There is none. Wakes up hours later and starts to run like nothing happened while being shot at and chased(!). Yes children, chased by an enemy soldier holding a rifle. What's the point? This whole running part is probably only there to be able to move the camera perspective to next cut scene. Runs into a German soldier and survives that encounter as well. i don't know what actually happened as I skipped that part. By this time the movie really started to freak me out. Runs into a French damsel with a baby. I was expecting the female element by that time. They exchange some words, syllables, sounds. No fluids. Probably a rating issue. I don't know, don't care, as I skipped that part too. Finally, our hero reaches his objective, I think. I guess it all ends well. I don't know and I don't care, because I couldn't bare to watch this piece of garbage any longer.
