I graduated in 1985. What a great time to be alive. I wouldn't trade my youth for the crap these kids have to deal with and grow up in today, for nothing. I feel sorry for the. No cell phones, no computers, video games weren't addictive or taking up ones entire youth. Freedom and happiness. The world was a much better place. Or maybe it just seemed like it, I don't know. I do know that I loved the era I grew up in, and am grateful for it.

This is the video that was shown on loop on MTV at the time, so when I saw them at Irvine Meadows in Orange County, California, in 1985, naturally the fans took over the stage. It didn't help that at the beginning of the encore, Holly Johnson told everybody in the crowd to come closer. I had tenth row seats, but me and my friend Ruben ended up standing on the arms of the chairs in the third row to watch the madness unfold, and madness it was. Basically, after one song (Relax) for the encore, the band ran off the stage, they turned on all the lights and told everybody to go home. I got pelted with so much garbage I was a walking trash can heading to the car. Still one of the best concerts I ever saw (and I saw a lot of them back then).

I was born in August '76. The 80s were so exciting, I even wondered what the future held. It was so common to hear 'rock and roll will never die'. I try to relive that time period, with singing karaoke. If you want to look me up, visit a venue in Houston, Texas, my stage name is 'Rokker'. I had a classmate in grade school, who is the lead singer of 'Blue October'. Me, I was in the NAVY (1999-2008).
