I'm really interested in history and I enjoy this video so much that I have subscribed to your channel! Thanks for sharing this piece of a history!! And I so wish I could go back in time and go to the beach🏖️!! In fact, it might be interesting if you found a video on ladies in Atlantic City, New Jersey during the 1920s when it was at its heyday of Elegance and fun🤗🤗🏖️🐚🌊⛵💙💙💙💙💙!!!

The post's notes say these were silent films and the sound's been added later. In any case the first talkies weren't till the late 1920s and needed special equipment and sound stages, so it's a good bet it would have been very difficult to capture ambient sounds outdoors.

Everything looks more 'real' and 'modern' in colour. But in black & white it looks so arcane? I was reading Quentin Crisp's book 'How To Go To The Movies' and he says of Marlene Dietrich[p.75]: "All of those glimpses of depravity are only acceptable because they happened to heroines living in the distant dimension of monochrome". I think there is an observation of black & white there and how it makes things remote and unreal. Great videos here. Fascinating. ; )

Not for most people. My grandmother worked day and night in housekeeping, not much more than a slave on very little pay and having to walk an hour to and an hour from work, since the bus was too expensive for her. Come home to work some more and do needlework. Working class wasn't this fortunate. Perhaps the upper working class for a day or two in a year. But most never got further than the nearest park, if there was one.
