Love the book flip, loads of ideas, beautiful illustrations. Historically Beistle embossed their die-cuts, but Denison didn't.

Loved the flip through of the Bogie book. What a fantastic Halloween treat. Would love to find one of these books even in less than great condition. The same video by Practical Peculiarities also showcases the Deadly Dames who sing throughout the video Halloween songs that Nick wrote but also they have costumes he made that are mostly crepe paper inspired by those in the Bogie book.

Thanks for sharing! Yeah, when I see old books and ads from this era, I think about the graphics too! Because i know they didn’t have computers, or even typewriters at this point I dont think... maybe typewriters... but I know for the titles and things they had to hand place the text and illustrations and make a plate and all that. Very technical work that computers do for us now

I know what the reference is for the Red Ear Dance! In the early days of the colonies and United States, they used to have work parties for bringing in the harvest, things like Apple Paring Parties and Corn Husking Parties, where they would combine chores with entertainment and games. At Corn Husking Parties, they would remove the husks from the corn, and one of the fun traditions they created for it was that any man who found an ear of red corn while he was husking got to kiss the woman next to him or the woman of his choice. So, the Red Ear Dance refers to corn and the idea that a man would get to choose the woman of his choice to kiss.

I FIRST HEARD OF THIS GREAT LITTLE SERIES IN HISTORY'S ORIGINS OF HALLOWEEN AND SAW THIS ON AMAZON FOR $10.49 EVEN HERE IN CANADA! I LOVE HOW INTO HALLOWEEN YOU ARE FOR THIS IS A VERY SPECIAL NIGHT FOR NOTHING MORE THAN FUN FOR KIDDIES. JUST ONE ANECDOTE, ABOUT 10 YEARS BACK I STARTED USING AN IDEA I GOT FROM "DISNEY'S CHILLING, THRILLING SOUNDS RECORD I FOUND AT A CALGARY GARAGE SALE. BEFORE I STARTED USING SCARY SOUNDS WE GOT ABOUT 50-75 KIDS. NOW OUR LITTLE HAUNT GETS NO FEWER THAN 500 KIDS AND THEY ALL LOVE IT!

You shouldn’t wear gloves before handing old books you loose finger dexterity and can damage the book
@KatherineYoung Жыл бұрын
Agreed. As I mention I only wear gloves for aesthetics of filming my videos. Not for protecting the items.
