1921 Singer 66 Red Eye bobbin case removal "Old Style"

1921 Singer 66 Red Eye bobbin case removal old style with retaining screw. Also, proper slide plate removal and installation back onto machine.
This year this Singer model 66 will be 100 years old I'm cleaning it up and making it work quiet and smooth once again. It's a treadle machine with all original documentation from the sales receipt to the inspection tag.

Brilliant close up of bobbin case removal. As the oil wick is missing on my machine I need to replace it. Any help regarding the shape and size of the oil wick would be appreciated.

That bobbin case is different than mine, which is from the 1950's.

I just picked up a 1919 66 and yep the cover plate is missing , do yoh know whete to get a new one ?

You can find modern replacements on amazon, but the finish is brushed rather than the polished finish of the originals. Good if you just want a functional replacement, but if you're doing a restoration you may need to search for an original. Perhaps try antique stores or ebay?

@@BachStudios Thanks i will keep my eyes peeled , i just grabbed a spartan for parts and its got the brushed , temporary till i get a parts machine with a chrome one , for now , it will work ....

I just got a model 66 Red Eye. Needs lots of cleaning. My question is the tension have numbers what /# 66 is. It's also electric in a wooden cabinet wrapped with some sort of leader type and fabric. I think 1922-24? Correction model AA6081835

@@4486xxdawson I think is G6081835 , electric. I think 1922-24 no sure. I have been trying to find another machine like mine to compare but no luck. Those dial # on the tension may me wonder. Yes the bobbin plate is missing too.

You are doing it wrong. You cannot remove the position bracket because you mess around with the gap between the feather of the bracket and the bobbin case. You have to gauge this gap back.
