According to Brian Rust's American Dance Band Discography 1975 , from Sept. 18, 1924 Whiteman's regular dance band, Henry Busse, Frank Seigrist,t; Roy Maxon and Jim Cassidy or Wilbur Hall, trb; Ross Gorman, Ed Stannard,cl-as; Don Clark,cl-ss-as; Paul Whiteman, vln, ldr, cond; Mario Perry,vln-pac; Ferde Grofe, Harry Perella,p; Al Armer or Carl Wagner, bb; Mike Pingitore,bj; George Marsh,d. I don't think Pingitore usually got as much solo time as he does 1:08-1:41.

This version peaked at #3 on the charts in 1925, the highest ranked of five recordings by different artists. The movie version at MGM in 1936, starring Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy would greatly expand the audience for this music by Rudolf Friml/Herbert Stothart, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II/Otto Harbach operetta!
