these old things run so smooth you can balance a coin on the top most part of the engine like the manifold if it's a V type or the cylinder head of an inline, if it's in perfect tune the coin will still stand straight up and not fall over

Friend of mine had a '30 caddy..........V-16, you talk about smooth! He put a dime on the valve cover and then started off in 3rd gear. Third gear! Dime never moved.

there is a fairly well known photo of a 1929 Cadillac with Gen. Douglas McArthur in breeches and his boot on the front bumper and the V8 script in full sight. (He might not have been a general at that time )
