Pouring Your Heart Out

Pouring Your Heart Out

Күн бұрын

Five flip cup pour using Global metallics, white and lots of black on 30cm x 60cm (12" x 24") canvas. I used 65% Elmers glue all to 35% water then used 50/50 of this pouring medium to my Global impasto paints. If you are using thicker paints, like Liquitex Basics, you will need to add more water to thin it out.

Julie I am so grateful I watched this incredible tutorial I'm very creative and artistic but new to the world of acrylic pour painting like every thing im new to I have been watching tutorials non stop for 10 hours as a way to educate myself on the tools techniques and so forth in order to produce a piece of art as magnificent as yours ,until I watched you specifically I was not confident enough to proceed as I am attempting to do my first project on two very large canvases 40inches by 50inches each so I can't afford Mistakes, the amount of paint alone was costly, and though Its my first time after l listened intently to every word you said beginning the ratios for your medium and by the way you are the only person who shared exactly how to do everything so precisely I would describe you as a world class instructress thank you so much for your joy ,your ability to teach so effortlessly and your enthusiasm for sharing you have inspired so much I can't thank you enough you are the only person whose Chanel I subscribed to . Julie you are sublime , please perfection.

In the United States, the large push pins can be bought at Walmart, Office Depot, or any office supply stores and some craft stores. Also when buying paint, I go to Sherwin Williams, or any home improvement store and buy my colors in quarts and my white by the gallon; they're ll acrylic and it's much cheaper in the long run if you're going to be doing a lot of pours. I do get my metallics at Hobby Lobby or Michaels or Walmart.

@@janapoches4463 for the dark colors all paint stores have to use an ultra deep tint bases. I buy their cheapest interior flat wall paint; also you can buy quarts of Lowe's or any hardware store's cheapest interior flat wall paint in quarts. Buying by the quart when doing projects like this this where I'm doing many paintings is way cheaper than buying bottles of craft acrylics or tubes of fine art acrylics. If you're only going to do a couple of pours in your lifetime; then use the bottle craft acrylics or tubes of $$$$$ fine art acrylics. One tube of Basics Red Cadmium costs about $11-$15 per 10 ounce tube, where a quart of red in an interior flat wall paint will cost me (depending on where I buy) $11-$18. I also get contractor pricing at Sherwin Williams. I also use my quarts of wall paint for other art projects; so buying it by the quart is way more economical for me.

When I go to bed at night, I make sure I took pictures first. Just to prove to anyone who think I'm making excuses, because the troll from hell come in the middle of the night and wreck my paintings. or stole a color o0r two and left the rest as a joke. Totally ruining my work's. They have broken my heart a few times. I did a ceder box with a wonderful black and gold, with copper swipe. I ended up redoing it four times. Sanding it down every time. By the fifth I took my vengeance. I showed those troll who they were messing with. I won and varnished. Very nice piece now, if I do say so.

I have asked other pouring artists and they couldnt do it they said. So I will ask you,! Can you do a piece of navajo turquoise? Mostly a blue light or medium turquoise, black veins with maybe a little blob here or there of black but not too big with little touches of metallic light gold running along with some of the black? You can look on Google for turquoise Navajo pendants and rings . I think it would be gorgeous. Here is your challenge if you decide to accept it 😊 . It's hard to find real turquoise anymore. What the heck am I not understanding here? Why use glue? Why not just use straight paint? I don't understand the purpose of the glue at all. I'm thinking about doing this on a guitar body, and I'm trying to figure out what to do. I need the finished coat of paint to be as thin as possible. Because of the irregular shape of the guitar body, I'm thinking about doing several small cups (shot glass size?) because I will have to go around the holes routed into the body for the pickups.

Question! I've never seen someone spray their cups with silicone but it's brilliant and would solve some of my problems, but do you use the treadmill silicone for that? Or can you? I guess this is multiple questions, but do you purchase a separate spray silicone? I absolutely ADORE your videos and artistry. You really inspire me to create and try new things. I'm going to mildly over share to explain my appreciation for you and what you're doing here on KZbin. Feel free to ignore this if you're not interested. I have pretty debilitating chronic illnesses as well as recovering from surgery and had multiple complications making a 1 month recovery into a 6 month one that required an additional surgery. I'm an extra positive person, but I'm one of those who needs a way to express myself to stay in that mindframe. I've been so limited in what I could do and as a fellow very artistic/creative person it was extraordinarily depressing until I discovered acrylic pouring which is far less difficult for me and my health conditions. You have taught me so much, I love your personality, you are beyond talented and your content helps many people who may be dealing with their own problems, using art to escape. Or watching KZbin to escape! So Thank you. Sending love from Chicago!

I’ve seen several ask about the difference between using Floetrol and Elmer’s glue. the info below explains it well. it is an excerpt from acrylicpouring.com/what-is-a-pouring-medium/ If you’re trying to be thrifty or you’re just starting out, this is a good way to experiment without investing much money. Having said that, you should know that this product is slightly acidic, and your resulting paintings will not be “archival quality.” There are any number of reasons that experienced and professional pouring artists tend to choose a “real” medium over glue.
