Jessie Matthews is the star of this stunning selection. Thanks so much for sharing these gems!

I watched a couple of her movies this week that I had never seen. Panachord suggest It's Love Again and it was okay but I really liked There Goes The Bride. Gangway is still my favorite so far.

Lovely selection> I, too, am a great fan of Jessie Matthews. My favourite film of hers is "It's Love Again" from 1936, but they were all special because of Jessie.

Great to hear from you Peter. I have not seen "It's Love Again" but will look for it online. Jessie was a great dancer but also a good vocalist. I was glad that at least one Ambrose selection had Vera Lynn singing in it. After Anne Lenner, Vera is my next favorite British female vocalist.

I would move out of the big city if I were you. I would move to a rural part of West Virginia, Tennessee or Kentucky or upstate New York around the finger lakes. Taxes will be lower in the first three states. Things have been calm here as 102 degree weather isn't conducive to move around in. You take care Craig.

Craig, we have been seriously considering putting our home up for sale here. My brother has a home in rural TN and has a log cabin he built that sits on 20 acres. I was thinking of buying an acre from him and have one of those small prefab homes built there. I am an avid gardener and have a master gardener certification. He wants me to help him farm some of the land that is already cleared. He has a neighbor that is a doctor with lots of animal waste to compost for fertilizer. My brother has a tractor so can use that to till up the area. We were going to start small and do about 2 acres at first. The goal would be to have a self sustaining place to live. My wife lost her job 3 months ago due to this covid thing. She was employed with them for almost 22 years. She doesn't want to move but is having a hard time finding a new position with so much competition. She has years of administrative experience and has done HR in her previous job but she doesn't like that work. I should be able to find work in the pharm tech field since there is a demand. Just talking about it for now, as Texas is generally a better state to live in. Honestly we could split from the rest of the nation and be self sustaining here. We have our own separate power grid from the rest of the country. That has been a serious movement here in the past and wouldn't take much to get people here to move towards it. People here still know how to use guns and haven't gotten too fat and lazy yet. Hope I don't offend you or anyone else with my comments. I just think this year has gotten out of control for many.

@Lurgansahib4 жыл бұрын
@@pax41 Hi Bob. Ta for reply, winter damn cold, we don't get snow etc here in Wellington but the air is freezing and we are over it and can't wait for spring to arrive in six weeks. It might be that we are getting older and notice the cold more Lol. It is 9am Saturday morning down here and a calm cool day ahead, I think I go to city (6 kilometres away ) and have a nice cafe brunch, then back home and finish a little paint job in my kitchen. We do not have any Covid 19 transmission in New Zealand at this time so all public places are open for business etc. Our borders are closed though apart from New Zealanders returning home and they are automatically locked down in hotels for 14 days under military supervision. We are being very very careful down here. I be listening again today. Hope you and family are ok etc. Take care, Stay safe. 🎼🎻

@@pax41 - well it says Gangway - Jessie Matthews! Who is singing it then - the music is more Swing, so from the 40's?
@pax414 жыл бұрын
@@jearnott These recordings were all made in 1937 by Ambrose and his orchestra. The movie was released in 1937. The vocalists are listed in the description of the video. Sam Browne was the Ambrose orchestras' primary vocalist. There were records released to the public with Jessie singing these songs. It was usually the custom for others to make their recordings unique from what was in the movie. It was very common for the recordings made by others to be performed as dance band records.
