Love the antique valve pusher upper tool! If you sell it, someone will be getting a fine looking and running car!

@@KlepsGarage It gets to a point that you can’t hang on to every car! I just sold another one. Lots of repair footage to share soon. Looking forward to your next video. (And hi again from Manitoba, Canada.)

Enjoyed the show as usual. A Victoria would be a step up for me. At least it's closed in - 1928 Phaeton in my garage. Course in Houston, it doesn't matter all that much.

Thx for watching. I to have a 28 Phaeton AR. A closed car is nice if you get caught in a heavy downpour or if it is snowing. See episode 56.

Speaking of AR: would you happen to know where I might get an input shaft for mine? Second gear sounds so bad, people stop and look. 7,000 miles later and after another set of gears, no affect. Another fellow with a multiple disc clutch said that's what solved his problem finally. But he's in France and doesn't have one anyway. Thanks. @@KlepsGarage

Don’t have an AR shaft. Mine is converted to single disc clutch. Good luck

The adjuster hole did not appear to be centered in the tappet, that may have caused the tappet not to rotate resulting in a continuous side load on the lifter, the lifter also appeared to be a modern powdered metal type, if powdered metal cracks anywhere it'll snap in half. Most production valve guides and rods made from the early 1990s and up are currently made out of powder metal, I have never seen a lifter made out of powdered metal but never say never.

I noticed that off-center hole also I think you’re on something there. That’s an aftermarket lifter, so probably a 10-year-old Chinese boy made it

Yep, powderd metal. I think the offset and type of metal was the cause of the failure

Very helpful! And you even sound a little like Red Green! Do you find the aluminum cam gear to be a bit noisy?
@KlepsGarage

Can’t tell any diff. Also I’m running a bronze gear on my roadster. Also no noise.

I would’ve loved to closer look at that tappet. is it possible that there was a lack of lubricant and the tappet stuck, or tried to weld itself to the cam and broke it?
@KlepsGarage
@KlepsGarage 6 ай бұрын
No lack of oil. No welding. I think bad heat treat. Car running good now. Have logged over 500 miles.

Does a model A new camshaft require a breaking run like newer 8 cyl camshafts (i.e., 30 minutes at 2k rpm).
@KlepsGarage
@KlepsGarage 8 ай бұрын
I would and did with this one. Just didn’t film that. About 1500 rpm’s. Good enough.
