This celestial number is a standout for me among Great Depression pop tunes. I took special notice of it when my mother mentioned it as a favourite. She would have been only six when the song appeared, so it must have made quite an impression! I love the fact that this is a very upbeat ditty, as it seems that so many of the love songs of this time have a sad tinge to them. Here, Luther is The Everyman, just singing from the heart -- and who can't relate? The always exuberant High Hatters make a real extravaganza of their instrumental support!

Cute number! My mother would have been five,my dad, nine. As the story goes, my dad liked to perform to the current tunes of his childhood, so I imagine him dancing to this charming ditty. My mother, not so much. She liked the jitterbug and tango, when she was in her teens! 😄

@@swingman5635 Ah, great! I love how music of this period encourages those of us of a certain age to connect it with our own parents and, often, their childhoods. My dad would have been nineteen when this song appeared -- he may have been crooning it to dates ... though he was more of a whistler.

I love this song, it's just so fun! It's part of my "misc mix" folder on my car playlist, and I concur that the High Hatters rule! I'll pick up one of their records any time I come across one.

A really delightful version of. I like this better than the slow-tempo hit interpretation by Guy Lombardo & his Royal Canadians.
