Kinda cool how they know the exact date and location when this one was recorded. 'Makes chicago sound so quaint for '31

PW was based out of Chicago and the NBC Merchandise Mart studios for much of 1931-‘32. It cost him some reputation as the music and radio industries consolidated in New York with the depression. But his name and the quality music it bespoke ensured his welcome when he returned to the mainstem in the spring of 1932.

Though not approaching the soaring standards of George Bassman's "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You," of the following year, this little ditty from Whiteman violinist Matty Malneck is fairly sweet and certainly performed in the band's customary professional manner.

The vocal arrangement would be ideal for 2 females + 1 male voice (the low, melody part).

The Romancers were a gentle flash in the Whiteman pan - a new "sweet trio" with Jack Fulton and 2 Chicago freelancers, Bill Seckler and Craig Leitch. Leitch had recorded with Jesse Stafford in 1929, and would again with Frank Trumbauer in 1932. I think he has the bottom melody part here, altho he's a tenor. Seckler had been in Earl Burtnett's Biltmore Trio and went on to do much motion picture work.

Would you be pleased if I split this into 4 individual tracks (vocal, drums, bass, & *other*), providing the opportunity to create a true stereo audio "image"? I have a few examples on my channel, PS. I love the challenge of this kind of "restoration".

Dorsey's version is better; however Jack Teagarden made the best recording!
