Thank you for sharing, my family were pioneers in the area and it's really cool to be able to see how things were back then. South Hill looks just as nice as it does today.

Your welcome, someday I would like to reproduce this film in high resolution and have someone provide a dialogue that would explain what we see in the film. Thank you for watching and Merry Christmas.

These are interesting. I live down on 15th Street by Fairhaven Park. I also have home movies before I was born of Bellingham Parades and also home life. Great memories.

Hi George, I shared this on the History of Bellingham and History of Whatcom County Facebook pages. I am also going to try to get a hold of the people that currently live in the house so that they can see it.

+runejl1 thank you so very much I have to tell you that's the only way that I get paid for this stuff. I have contacted the woman that lives in that house with a letter she doesn't do much with computers I don't think but she did appreciate the letter and the photographs of the house and I sent her. the history that belongs to all of us is our heritage enjoy it.

Do you remember a road called Glacier-Starr Route? I saw it in an old Whatcom County phone book, but I can't find any evidence of it anywhere else.

The car shown at 24:55 is a 1960 Buick (which Buick first started selling in the Fall of 1959) so the years this film covers extends later than 1957

Hi E.M. - I'll stop short of calling myself an expert at identifying the make and model of cars in old photos, but I have been a car hobbyist for all of my nearly 65 years on this planet, and if you are so inclined, in the future I'd be happy to help you identify the make and year of manufacturer of autos in old photos and film. My youngest brother is a historian one of the majors radio stations I'm Seattle, and I often help him with the same thing. Let me know. For example, that is a 1935 Oldsmobile 3 Window Business Coupe that is featured prominently earlier in the same film as the 1960 Buick.

Yes I would be most appreciative, I do what I can but most of my effort is put into just publishing the stuff. Research takes so much longer and as I said I do what I can but entirely missed the mark quite often. Your help would make a difference in a lot of cases. Thank you for your offer and by the way I’ll credit you in the description for your help. Thank you in advance and thank you for watching.

It’s funny I was able to track down the people that live in the house the owner of this film lived in at the time. I sent a letter to them pointing to this film. I don’t think they were very impressed. I do that often on with mixed results.

I believe the dam (damn?) footage is the Grand Coulee dam. Constructed between 1933 and 1942.

Would you be interested in more 16mm film taken between 1930s and later? I've had over 2500 ft transferred to cds. My father took home movies from 1930s to 1950s.

I don’t know how I missed this but yes I would be very great full but only in the actual films. My film scanner turns out exceptional quality reproductions that I am able to enhance using special software. Thank you for the offer.

Montgomery house. They ownded and operated Montgomery Fuel (the Casa Que Pasa building) I believe that is their house. They also owned another one on 11th I believe. I have pictures of it, the house now has two large blue things in front that look like non-tribal totems?

This website (www.hmdb.org/marker.asp?marker=48891) has some info about the Dr. F.R. McGregor, whose office sign is shown early on in this set of films: "These plaques commemorate famous vessels in the history of Victoria and pay tribute to pioneers they brought to this new land, the men and women who fought the good fight and built Victoria and British Columbia. Remembering George McGregor (1863-1947) Founder of Victoria Tug Company, Ltd. (1912-1959), owner and operator of tugs: Sadie, Spray, George McGregor, Sirmac, DesBrisay, Swell & Strath. A staunch supporter of Victoria Harbour Assn. Donated by his son, Dr. F.R. McGregor."
