I'd enjoy a video exploring that rare baseball unicorn, the platinum sombrero

Could you do a video on presidential first pitches? Who was the first one to throw from the mound?
@thebaseballprofessor10 ай бұрын
Good idea. I know Howard Taft was the first POTUS to throw out a ceremonial first pitch, but that's about it. It would be easy enough to research the topic using newspapers.com

Al Simmons could’ve had multiple 60 double seasons but he was so fast he turned them into triples

In history just 101 times 50 doubles were hit. From 1940 to 1999 only 20 times 50 doubles were hit

Triples have become so rare!

@@thebaseballprofessor This is a shame because it is one of the most exciting plays in baseball. Unlike a home run, after the triple, there is the tension of the man on third. Will he score or will he be stranded at third?

Harder than hitting 60 home runs.👍

yeah you need speed for doubles and consistency for homeruns u just need a little plate dicipline and strength

i’ll take 50 doubles over 30 home runs in a season any year. doubles mean big innings, igniting the entire team while the thump of a home run, especially just a solo. And yes, I am aware that 50 doubles is less total bases than 30 homers, but don’t care. it’s more fun to watch someone trying to drive in a runner from second then it is one player trotting around the bases.
@ketch0_04110 ай бұрын
Just a talking point because I agree with you...... How many doubles would the 30 HR player have and how many HR would the 50 doubles player have? Does it make a difference in who'd you pick?
@orno890610 ай бұрын
@@ketch0_041 looking at it from sheer total base aspect and how much I enjoy the drama of runner on second and a team trying to get him in, by hitting behind the runner, bunting or fly ball with tag-up, stacking base hits, etc. makes more big innings and fun!

Your only problem with the channel is that you don't make enough videos. Let's have a video on triples, by all means, and one on steals of home.

Granderson and Rollins in 2007 were the last to hit 20 or more triples. Granderson's 23 were the first time since Dale Mitchell in 1949 that anyone hit as many.

Only three players have hit 30 or more, the last in 1912.

Even more, they hit 60+ in fewer games played over the season.

Park factors sure are a factor given so many spacious ballparks, but it's still just so incredible to hit 60+ in less than 155 regular season games.
