The City of Marshfield commemorated 50th Anniversary of the 1887 Marshfield Fire with the Golden Jubilee Homecoming Celebration.
Bringing the fifth day of its Golden Jubilee Homecoming celebration to a smashing climax today, Marshfield staged one of the greatest industrial processions in its history this afternoon as the Homecoming Parade of Progress made its way down Central Avenue, up Ninth "street, and to the fairgrounds via Vine Street.
Dozens upon dozens of gaily colored floats and trucks, old fashioned and modern vehicles, mingled with marching bands, fife and drum corps, and marching organizations, to make the spectacle one of the most impressive ever seen here.
Seven bands were entered, including the 135th Medical Regiment band, the Marshfield High School Band, St. John's School Band, the Friendship Band, the Phillips Ladies' Auxiliary, a local "Old-Time" band, and a Little German Band from Spencer.
Forming into line at Columbia Park under the direction of Parade Marshal Fred Braem. the procession covered a route extending nearly two miles before it reached the fairgrounds grandstand, where it passed in review before a crowd which disdained to stand with the thousands who lined the route to the grounds.
In addition to the parade, the video includes brief views of the Adler Theater on South Central in 1937, The Relda Theater, and the old Adler Theater on East Second Street; the Hefko Pool, and the JP Adler Family, J.P. and Rosa, and their daughters Anne and Bette Adler,
