1937 Rolls model BCR Repair - Part 2

This is yet another repair for someone else, instead of me... but it's a nice set, and the repair should make a big difference to its performance.
Part two will be finishing the chassis, and part 3 will be to align the set and finish things off.

I'm hopefully picking up the first copies today! The book launch (if any copies are done in time) will be at the NZ Vintage Radio Society AGM in Auckland this weekend. Then the bulk of the printing and binding should be completed next week, and I'll have copies available for sale. I'll do a separate video, once I get back from the AGM, about the book... Hello Steve, I missed part 1, I'll have to go back and watch that. Well done getting it working fie=rst time. Looks a nice radio. Was Rolls a Kiwi brand, I think we had them here ?

Hi David, yes, Rolls was a Kiwi brand. It's possible the brand was exported, but I think there was an American brand with the Rolls name as well. The NZ ones were made by Radio (1936) Ltd in Auckland. It's a fine-looking set, and now at least now it has performance to match its looks. The last main problem I am having now is the slipping tuning knob, which has a special rubber roller (which has gone hard and slippery) driving the dial assembly - and that is about the last headache to solve, then I can return it to its owner and perhaps get back to one of the looong overdue projects I still have on the bench, like the Atwater Kent, or the Pacific... maybe 😊 Cheers, Steve
