1942 John Deere model W stationary engine first run

First run of the 1942 John Deere model W stationary engine. It uses the same engine as the John Deere model D tractor, a 501 cubic inch 2 cylinder engine. We will check and replace the spark plugs if needed and clean the carburetor. The clutch is also stuck but these are easy to work on since it is on the end of the crankshaft opposite the flywheel.

Sounds really good! I saw the flywheel guard but it took me a minute to spot the starter....looks like a very clean job of fitting it on!

The engine was purpose built to provide power at stationary equipment

Can you tell us more about the engine? Is a two-stroke twin?

it looks like a regular John Deere engine that they used in everything at the time so no it's twin four stroke gasoline engine
