1947 FLXIBLE CLIPPER BUS FOR SALE

1947 FLXIBLE CLIPPER BUS FOR SALE.
Originally used for Columbia Pictures Corp. Hollywood CA. Purchased and started conversion in 1971 that lasted until1990. After conversion, Bus made several trips across country in the early 90s. Bus has not been used since, and has been stored since 1994. Body and paint are in good condition.
Overall Specs: 1970 Cummins V8 Turbo Diesel, 5 speed manual trans with 2 speed differential. Onan 6.5kV Generator.
Restoration started 1971 in Manhattan Beach CA by famed Carroll Shelby mechanic and Trucker Joe Landaker. Joe moved to Lake Havasu AZ in 1979 where he garaged his bus and slowly continue to work on it. Bus was finished in early 1990's and Joe made 2 or 3 trips across country before he passed away in 1995. Joe's son, Ed Landaker acquired Joe's house and bus where he lived until passing in 2019. Ed never used the bus, and it never left the garage. The bus was moved out of the garage onto a lot in Lake Havasu. Not sure of the condition, engine seemed to run ok (see video). Bus has no rust, and has been garage in desert for 42 years.

Later versions of this bus were used by Carey Transportation from the East and West Side Terminals in Manhattan to get to the airports and were quite comfortable and pleasant until they ceased operation in the mid Sixties or later.

An ex-Greyhound bus just like this owned by an election campaign group came by my college campus only a few weeks ago, and from the exhaust note I swear it still had the big gasoline engine in it. Who would have thought that diesel prices would ever rise so high that the owners of that ancient petrol bus would once again be laughing all the way to the bank?

This bus was passed down to me when my father passed away 3 years ago. I’m not an expert on these, but this one is a jewel because it has no rust. I moved it out of the garage when I sold the house and it ran, (see video). It maybe had 40,000 miles on it since 1970. It would need to be mechanically gone through. It is not ready to drive across country.
